Ideas for “level” synonyms: chunks, dunks (barkley game), visions, situations, routines (speed runners’ game)

just remembered smash bros usage of “events”

“set” would also be a good name for a level

Perfect for a self-loathing game

Imbroglios

Thus far only Michael Brough is powerful enough to use this word in a game.

Related to the topic: Bosses are referred to as Main Events in Devilish: the Next Posession and I love it.

The levels in NiGHTS Into Dreams are called dreams, and their subsections are called mares. Boss battles are called Nightmares.

There’s a game that’s not afraid to make up silly terminology!

Imbroglio, the Old Brother

The flip side of the coin of which both Mario and Wario together make up only one side.

Isn’t Irem’s Kung Fu Master the source of all video game terminology? If so, we have no choice but to universalize “floors.”

Or we can just go with “worldboards.”

I am with the previous posters that Danny of Game Grumps calls them boards and I lose it everytime.

Yeah, I remember seeing “boards” in a game magazine around 2000 or so but don’t remember which one.

“Level” is applicable if you are ascending/descending and prefer not to use “floor”. I like it in that context.

“Boards” could be used for Mario Party games but not much else
