do people still use ccleaner and malwarebytes and stuff now or were those bought up by big companies and superseded by better things?

I used to fuck up and dir on linux and ls in the Windows command line all the time, and now thanks to Powershell I can forget the DOS stuff.

I had trouble with WSL - are you using WSL 2?

I am still using WSL 1. But thanks for the reminder to switch to 2!

Hmmm what problems are you having? It’s worked beautifully for me on multiple machines with very little effort.

Ubuntu would hang on apt update with mysterious error messages.

Dang. I use Ubuntu on my work machines and Pengwin at home. It’s always “just worked” for me.

Smooth sailing with WSL2 so far but I am only running bulk OCR with Felix’s script so YMMV

I would use grid cartographer but even that is way too expensive compared to the free or very cheap tools I have been using

I’ve got dreams of doing an arx fatalis style megadungeon-as-setting

what’s a good/fast replacement for the win10 photos app
embarrassing you need one for something so basic but it’s shitting itself for me on a fortnight old install

might have to go full 1998 and get irfanview

I used picasa as a photos app replacement in the win7 days, I think this one is good now?

My w10 photos app has also been shitting on itself lately and it’s also just a terrible app for trying to do art, so I am using imageglass now

is there anything out there yet that does lossless JPEG cropping with as much granularity as IrfanView with that one plugin installed?

I vote XNview
