Kim of Fighters: Battle of the Smoothest Pants Ever Animated

Main villain is some martial artist starch company CEO?

I’LL STRAIGHTEN MY PANTS WITH YOUR BLOOD

I still think the ideal spin-off venue for Kim & pals is a sitcom. Kim is the protagonist. Chang and Choi are his roommates. Jhun is Kramer, basically. Luong and Gang-Il are side characters who show up in fan-favorite episodes. Same deal with May Lee? Jae Hoon and Dong Hwan, uh…I guess they get into topical trouble for the sake of Very Special Episodes?

I agree, though, the Kim and Friends Power Hour has only gotten more robust over time. Kim himself is a great candidate for faux-everyman protagonist – somebody superficially clean-cut and normal with moments of extreme and hilarious mania. Plus the most perfect teeth God ever stuck into gums. Kim’s Dentist for DLC?

Laser sword!

yuri looks fun :3

SNK has started a “KOF Station” series and although it’s not fully subtitles it does have English captions and summaries for discussions at the beginning and some stuff throughout. At the end there’s a small tournament featuring several of the new characters.

Played a bit at the Sony booth. Nakoruru is cute~

Game could use some anti-aliasing though. The hard pixels on everything make stuff dither hard. For example, Mai’s hair looks like a dithered mess because each strand of hair gets reduced into individual pixels instead of blending into each other.

Felt great to play though and I beat a guy’s team with Iori alone so it was a good time.

Xanadu is just as goofy as his teammates.

Definitely seems like a legit KoF character.

That stage is amazing.

Really, I’m impressed with how on-point most of the new characters feel. They’re not like the Street Fighter IV characters, who just seem stapled into the existing franchise.

He might be even more. I can only imagine how ridiculous that cradling move would look performed on big guys like Chang and King of Dinosaurs.

Though CHang is definitely upping his goofy game, with that knock out of the park followed by his surprise when the opponent lands behind him.

Invitation Team. I love how operatic and dramatic Mian’s movements are. She looks really, really fun.

Kind of upset they gave not-kyary generic moe voice.

I love the mask changing, despite the overall still kinda rough(and final) look I think they nailed a lot of small details, especially in the new characters

Yeah, I wonder if that was Neo-G’s doing.

I like all of these guys. Sylvie actually looks like she plays a lot like a real NESTS character.

Bonus points to whoever edited this for all the cutaways to waiters and things.

Mian’s moves have that pleasant over-animated look that Shion and Momoko had in XI.

Wow. Mian rules. I read Oswald’s post before watching the video and thought that the mask changes were some sort of new spin on a stance system, but it being purely cosmetic works too. That’s the kind of detail they wouldn’t have tried to add in a 2D game.
Yo, we got a real KOF!

Kukri looks like it would be fun to play.

Not sure about Sylvie. Looks like another moe character, but her moveset looks interesting as well.

Kukri is a lot like Shen Woo. One of those guys who fakes out the opponent by having a move where you’ve got three places he could pop up but you don’t know which one it will be. There are other characters who do this, but I’m blanking on them right now…

Who’s the protagonist this arc? Is it that Shunnei air dash guy?

Yeah, Shun’Ei is the new protagonist and the China Team is the new hero team. Tung is important again!
