I will also say that I like the way cutscenes fade into fog white when they end… Really nice effect.
They could have leaned into it just a bit more but if all the monologuing is James “talking” to Mary is a pretty good gimmick. They make a few tiny nods to it.
I don’t remember James taking so many filthy syringes from the garbage in the original.

On the topic of horror cameras, I really liked the claustrophobic aspect ratio of The Evil Within. And before the game came out people were complaining about it and it launched with the option to toggle a traditional camera. I can’t remember if the sequel even had the OG aspect ratio as an option.

Remember where James reaches into that hole and you’re like that’s a pretty fucking weird thing to do James? What if you had to make him do it by hitting X four times. And I’ve already had to put my arm into at least three holes.
Everytime Bloober has put their stink on this game it has made me roll my eyes.
I’ve already had to jump down one hole, AND THEY CUT TO BLACK BEFORE JAMES JUMPED. Then came back and he was on the ground. My god Bloober team does not understand horror.

Thinking about how long the first Red Pyramid Thingy fight would take if you did not already know Silent Hill 2.
it makes the distinct “you’re fucking up” bullet hit noise every time you hit him. I already knew to shoot him a bunch.

If possible, could someone who has the game for ps5 check if the USA version of the game has menu options to change the language/interface to Japanese? (googling says it does but I never know any more).
My wife is interested in playing it for some reason, it’s way outside of her normal wheelhouse but could be a fun couch game.
I’m not home now so can’t check, but there are definitely language options. I didn’t look at which languages were available though.
