Should I finish Persona 4 or play FF6?

i’m way too late to this now, but i do want to interject that part of why i love VI is because the game lets you break it open and it seems intended. i think having job classes is one way to have fun in a game, but so is customizing your favorite characters into overpowered monsters.

I played the gba port of ffvi when I was in middle school and I remember each of my party members at the end just double casting meteor and chainsawing every turn for like 20k damage each time.

Continuing my FF6 experience. I got to the part where the party splits 3 ways and you decide which order to play their little quests in. I picked Terra’s first, and had a pretty boring time backtracking through the entire game up to that point in reverse, finally getting to Narshe, and having someone tell me I’d wasted my time going there. COME ON! I’m not used to a JRPG disrespecting my time this much so early in the game.

However, now I’m doing the ghost train quest and having a pretty good time. Hiking through a misty forest and coming to a vista where I could see this huge metal train silhouetted in the distance, that was a cool moment.

I just moved this to KoP because it’s basically now a cool FF vs. Persona thread.

The whole ghost train bit might be my favorite part of FFVI actually. That and Zozo

“Time to ride the supplex train!”, our man in the ring Bachelor yells before delivering one of his signature moves, a series of three snap supplexes known as the Ghost Train. Though he ends the third with a pinning attempt, his opponent manages to barely kickout before the ref’s hand hits the mat for a third time, and the fight continues.

the “punched-up” retranslation can be pretty obnoxious at times but the fact that they added a hook to the enemy ai script specifically for this joke is immensely charming to me

im sad that we stumbled on a way to kill it before it got to use Evil Toot though because oh my god

anyway if anyone wants to try the 2.0 beta of this romhack pm me

espers are restricted by character, all the stats are actually useful now and well-balanced against each other, esper level up bonuses are decoupled from which ones you have equipped in battle, all the enemy AIs were rewritten to be more dynamic, setzer’s slots are derigged, the only enemies to show up in the veldt are actually decent choices for gau, runic and sketch work correctly, etc. it’s been in development for like 14 years? it’s neat.

i like it a lot. having never played more than ten or so hours of the vanilla game… yeah, this is a very charming and warm-spirited game that deserves to be actually interesting to play. ultros reminds me of a shitty karaoke dj

the opening segment of WoR is, uh, wow

especially if cid dies

i really wish the world-crumbling scene used the title/intro theme instead, but the music choices after that (and choices not to use music) have been really effective so far
