My partner showed me a photo of a furry meetup and asks ‘do you know what this is?’. I mention they are furries and that they are a community having a meetup (I’ve never talked to her about furries before and she’s never heard of them before). She loves plushies and fluffy animals, particularly pandas.
She then points to a dragon fursuit, specifically it’s tail and says ‘Oh my god it’s so fat and fluffy I love it’.
I am trying to contain myself.
She’s now demanding I explain everything I know about furries. ‘Why haven’t you ever told me about these before!’. I don’t have the heart.
yup! she’s been running adventurecru since even back when i was still going to furcons haha. i even went to a few, tho that ship has long since sailed for me i think (was never much of a big partier). she and i knew each other before either of us were furries. she stayed involved in the fandom as i drifted away into indie games and shit. we also had a falling out for a while, over gamergate. old history.
The face especially i love whenever they have a more pointy crocodilian face. and a horn on their snoot. and their head just kinda sweeps back into more horns, and when someone asks “where are her ears” you pretend not to hear them

Me: Dragons are a symbol of being an unrepentant outsider, and more deeply of a spiritual orientation in which the universe’s creation is demiurgic rather than benevolent and requires rebellion for moral participation rather than obedience.
