When I went out for lunch with my dad on Monday we were walking back through the edge of the financial district and found a datsun that looked like a hairless dog limping towards the grave. It is a triumph of human engineering that this dinosaur is still running despite maybe being older than I am. Sadly I forgot to take any photos of it… but then I got to thinking
No car like this survives by accident. This is a lion, forged in battle and clothed in scars, still too ornery for any young pup to take down. We are only passing through the territory it claimed long ago. So I open up google maps, look around the area, and what do you fucking know
This car is probably older than I am, and I wouldn’t be surprised for it to outlive me.
had a good laugh & love how that Volvo 240 is lurking
around the corner to make sure that nobody is preying upon young ones in his territory.
That’s my PREY
what have they done to this nice R5… blasphemy…
Personally I love it
the front light cluste… lights on the US version of most 1980ies imports look like a bad aftermarket mod, and will probably never click with me (having grown up seeing the real deal, it will always look wrong to me…
worst offender may be the Peugeot 505:

vs the hack-job you unfortunately had to watch in case you actually were lucky enough to catch one out in the wild:

yeah euro style lights were not legal in American cars, it could only be round or square bulbs, hence the weird hack jobs for a decade until Ford lobbied to change it
amazing. shades of a fb kei truck ad i saw that said “I was told it ran before it was parked”
One point one million miles and no shotgun seat.
I love the look of old Volvo wagons. So square they come all the way back round to groovy.
sigh, just noticed the “odometer broken” note. my heart, too.
tempted to get one because they never fucking die and have a timeless design
240 turbowagon…
