I completed a run on Demon’s Souls without increasing Soul Level, altho’ i didn’t use a class that started at SL1 … I think perhaps it was easier in Demon’s than it would be in Darks (??). Overall, it wasn’t as hard as i thought it was going to be.
This is a thing streamers do already, usually in combination with item randomizer hacks.
Looks like there is a Dark Souls randomizer mod that does the equipping automatically for you nowadays: Item Randomiser and Auto-equip (Dark Souls III) at Dark Souls 3 Nexus - Mods and Community
Playing Counterstrike without ever buying anything except armor.
I recently played FF7 using only double materia growth equipment up-to the end of disc 2 and stopped when I realised most boss encounters were over in a minute, which was only satisfying until I became convinced that the game just isn’t very challenging.
RE4 is totally do-able with just the starting handgun and grenades/rocket launcher you come across during the Village and Castle chapters. I should really check to see if Knife-only is viable as that’s one of the few things I’ve not done yet and is historically a thing in Resident Evils.
usually try my best to level up as little as possible in rpgs if that counts
did beat the final third of romancing saga 2 with a solo character:
Playing through Souls games using only fist weapons, though DS2 was the last time I did that
I beat the easy-medium off-road rally challenges in Gran Turismo 4 using only the Suziki Alto Works, a tiny hatchback with a 660cc 3-cylinder engine.
It has to be max tuned to stand a chance but with the biggest turbo it takes like 8 seconds to get to the power band in first gear and you have to gear it high to keep up so any drop in speed below about 20 mph or so is fatal to the whole run. Thankfully its very light so it goes around corners quickly in the dirt but gets pulled on in every straight.
I’m not sure why I did this exactly. I did a rally race with it for shits and giggles and was surprised how close I came to winning and just felt I needed to do the plucky little box justice and kept tuning it.
By the time the hard courses came around it was just plainly mathematically impossible to continue.
I also beat the tuner challenge race on special stage route 5 with the Daihatsu Midget II using a combination of outright cheating by bouncing off walls, bouncing off other cars, blocking and heavy use of NOS.
thought I was being clever trying to beat Deus Ex human revolution with just the pistol until it became apparent it was actually the best gun.
Leveling Warrior in WoW lol
Beating the 7 with only one character is impressive
I tried soloing that game but couldn’t even go past the first hero
I’ve soloed Romancing Saga 3 (with Ellen) in the past and that was wild. (I owe everything to that sun spell that just eats all enemies and allowed me to kill vastly superior enemies)
In general I’ve found that solo challenges in RPGs can be surprisingly great, even way more enjoyable than playing it straight, but you really have to pick the right game, preferably something normally easy and with a ton of complexity (Like FF5)
Hot Tip: DS3 with the Demon’s Fists=Stun Times/Good Times
one interesting rs2 challenge to try is starting the game and immediately killing off every possible emperor so the final generation is forced before you’ve done anything
Do everything I want to do in a game in a NICE amount of time.
