Oh shit I forgot about mobile games. How about Ridiculous Fishing and Bean Dreams.
Bean Dreams is probably my most played game that came out this decade. it’s a typical Flash-gamedesign-derived platformer thing, which put me off at first, but on the other hand I don’t think there’s ever been anything else as good? or i may be biased, because i only play it when i have literally nothing else to do (buses, planes). it does have music by FlashyGoodness.
Other than that i’m resisting the urge to nominate more games that I love that others posted, because i think there’s a reason deep down i chose not to nominate them, and i should just vote for them when we get to the brackets.
probably the reason I like bean dreams is because it’s more chilled out than something like time surfers. even if time surfers is more tightly designed and precise and skill-demanding. you can zone out and halfheartedly try as many times as you want without losing progress. this makes it a holistically better mobile game experience imo.
botolo - more than videoball sorry everyone, the patterns and WHAT THE FUCK HOW DOES THIS WORK got me too hooked. they’re both beautiful sister games that failed though
cats who walk through walls - is still best mobile game
jeanne d’arc - is my favorite easy strategy rpg
FIRST FUNKY FIGHTER - is best whack a mole
ill do one line shit for the other stuff i picked when i come back
The most cost-effective one was the stab knife between fingers game. But in typing this out I can feel W.T.F. not hating me as much as gently mocking my completionist impulse for filling out the little gashapon squares just to get little pixel art bits and fragments of flavor text.
yeah hating is definitely the wrong word, its more making fun of gamer impulses
also the 999 buddhas jrpg game was totally worth grinding the most expensive capsule machine for
my FAVORITE game is the waitress one though, people yelling over eachother and correcting orders constantly while you feel like a future service worker holding your psp sideways. FUCK i love work time fun
I wouldn’t call Witcher 3 comforting. Like dark shit happens in Dragon Quest but the overall mood is pleasant not it is fantasy time and shit sucks shit. Turns out the witch had two children to take care of. And you let them die you fuck. Deal with Grey Morality.
