Once they’re out of the group stage it becomes single elimination and there are no ties any more
Belgium and Uruguay tied
There are too many ties in this stupid game
The Group Stage (what we’re in now) has 48 teams. They play round robin and are given points depending on match results. Winning gets you 3 points. Ties get you one point. At the end of the group stage, the two teams with the most points in each group advance to knockout. The eight best third place teams overall also advance.
Everyone in Group B (Canada’s group) and Group G (Egypt’s group) tied, so they both have a chance to advance to the knockoutstage.
I think the format of the World Cup is interesting because you will have strong teams try to coast and conserve energy during favorable matchups, but then wind up in a corner later on. I don’t follow too closely, but somebody else could probably give you examples of that happening.
whoa whoa whoa, Portugal has a player with a mononym?
We’re going all the fucking way baby.
WAIT THIS IS THE TEAM THAT FATAL FURY TOP TIER RONALDO PLAYS ON?
I guess it’s a good thing I can’t be disappointed by Scotland.
