this series of posts about robot voices reminded me of, i guess an example of the opposite phenomenon, and one of the most amusingly low-rent things about divinity 2. there’s a character about 2/3 of the way through the game called “the seneschal,” which is one of those robot but made of magic type automaton characters. the script of the dialogue suggests the character has like a glitching robot voice, but instead of using sound effects the voice actor either just ignores the sound effects or just uses his human voice to make it sound like he is speeding up or slowing down or garbling things and saying like “beep” and “bzzt” phonetically.

Con O’Neill voiced little dude in DS2 you can easily miss entirely.
