Omg, this method is insane. So much margin for error, and you have to sacrifice a game for it too. What a wild time. I wonder what the most popular cheap game to use for this was? Probably some kinda sports game?

Seems like a good guess–the disc shown there is Nihon Daihyou Team no Kantoku ni Narou! Sekaihatsu, Soccer RPG:

The original Japanese version of Digital Pinball: Last Gladiators comes in a case with a clear rather than the usual black hinge front, and a white rather than the usual black CD tray:

Sega Worldwide Soccer '98 (J) has an all clear case:

And apparently List of japanese Sega Saturn games that came packaged in a Medium CD Case - Satakore.com it’s a slightly thicker (~12mm) “medium” CD jewel case rather than the 10.4mm “standard” CD jewel case.

World Cup '98 France ~Road to Win~ (J) looks the same way:

Are there any other Japanese Saturn games in these kinds of cases rather than the usual black plastic ones?

Several. I’d have to pull down and check my entire 100+ disc collection though.

Nice! Oh yeah I have VF Remix, it was the first or second Saturn game I got so I didn’t yet realize the clear case was unusual. ^ _^

I just didn’t see how the same company could make stuff like Tama: Adventurous ball in giddy labyrinth. I can see it now. Kinda.
