The game screenshots are 180p so the characters will appear to be extra large. This is the same resolution as Celeste. I initally thought it was too small of a resolution, but I think it looks good. It lets me make really huge looking badguys pretty easily. The player sprite is the same size as the floating ghoul at 32px tall, and this axe knight is 40px tall. If you’re reading the forums on a 1080p screen these should be the exact size you’d see them in game.
Testing enemies’ color, silhouettes, visibility, readability etc. etc.
Also confetti skeletons used to be a joke, but I think I’m going to make this game like Carnival/MasqueradeParty/Cannibalism themed. Opulence being evil seems like a good theme for the game
I was initially going to do like… a town and cathedral and everything leading up to the castle, but I think a masquerade party really gives me a lot of variety to begin with. I read through Masque of the Red Death, and it’s very video-gamey. There’s gotta be other games that reference it?
