do you guys think that now that its pretty much clear there were (maybe none) good parts to terminator genisys and the Already Greenlit Sequel has been cancelled that the franchise can finally die
All I want is one really good game about what it’s like to be an average schmuck fighting The Machines and then it can march off into obscurity
binary domain?
Wonderful game, but the machines ain’t so tough in that one.
man i dunno i thought it was pretty ace that you could machinegun some dumb idiot robot man and have him keep crawling after you
thats like Peak Terminator right there
I must have been the only person alive to think Genisys wasn’t all that bad. yeah it was badly miscast, but it was Big Dumb Fun and Arnold was great in it. It was definitely a whole lot better than Salvation, and also lot better than the recent Planet of the Apes movies have been and everybody seemed to like those since they’re actually coming out with another one. if those movies can get a trilogy I don’t see why the new Terminator movies can’t.
terminator doesn’t have the Emotional CGI Man Andy Serkis factor
Every Terminator movie past T2 is absolute garbage
I have not seen Genisys but I’m sure it’s garbage. Aside from one, maybe two, movies a year, weighty physical exciting action movies are basically a dead artform
The first new Planet of the Apes is a great recession movie. The second got pretty dumb.
I played the Salvation tie-in game on the hardest difficulty and it measures up fairly well.
I played that too (and think, like some of GRIN’s other tie-in games, it’s an underappreciated gem). I just sort of wish there was more. More of what, I dunno.
I felt phisically ill while watching 3 but I sit thru the whole genisys and had a reasonable decent-ish time albeit the last villains were shit, whole movie would have been better w/ T800+1000 tag team. No Bill Paxton was bullshit.
I don’t think I’m watching Salvation and I’m not giving any reasons.
you’d think if there were one thing hollywood couldnt fuck up with their obsession with pushing technology forward it would be kill-em-all bots but i guess maybe that’s sort of part of the problem or all of the problem
Literally the only thing I remember about Salvation was groaning on the inside when not-Arnold was revealed.
What a non-event that movie was.
Terminator 3 is underrated, it’s silly as shit and then suddenly has an extremely bleak ending and I like that
Salvation is horrible and boring, I can’t remember anything about it other than the fact that it has the plot of what normally would be … like, a straight-to-video-game fan fiction sequel a la Force Unleashed or something. Such a dumb movie.
I tried to watch Genysis on a plane, fell asleep, woke up thinking I had slept through the movie, but actually the opening sequence hadn’t even ended yet. I kept trying to pay attention to the movie after that but just couldn’t. I dunno. Maybe it’s not as bad as it seemed, but not appropriate for airplane viewing.
Terminators 1-3 are still really good Los Angeles Action Movies though. The series died when they started trying to be anything other than that. Terminator mythology is absolute nonsense.
I am also an apologist for T3. it’s delightful. I remember seeing it in the theater (age like 15) and laughing so hard at all the over-the-top destruction that I was having trouble breathing, like when Arnold is hanging off the ladder on a fire engine as it barrels down the road and takes out like two city blocks just with his body. it was hilarious.
it actually took me a second viewing to fully appreciate T3, and then in graduate school I had a lit theory professor who was obsessed with it in an amazingly dorky way
don’t forget the sarah connor chronicles!!
My dream Terminator game is basically Resident Evil 3 where the only enemy is the Nemesis.
moments of calm, tense exploration and gathering supplies that are periodically shattered by some huge unstoppable foe crashing through a wall and chasing you down…
