RESIDENT EVIL.... (Part 1)

you’re only going to get instant killed by mr.x if you’re out of defense items

[BECAUSE MAYBE EVERYONE JUST MENTALLY BLOCKED OUT THIS PART OF THE GAME FROM THEIR MEMORY] the exact part of the game that made me give up in frustration is where you have to fight/dodge your way through a gauntlet of instant kill Ivies and resource draining Lickers, and once you finally complete the inventory tetris necessary to get whatever fucking spark plug or valve handle Leon needed to escape from the city X jumps through a window and will combo you into the grab range of a new wave of Ivies.

That was too much for me. The game had broken me and no part of that masochism was rewarding.

i guess that part just stopped registering for me around my eighth playthrough.
i really like the game.

yeah that part only happens on the B playthrough and never really gave me trouble. but I hoard resources hard in resident evil so maybe it’s just because of that

I just finally finished the leon b scenario the other day and I don’t remember anything about that part being unusually difficult. you can just run from him like any other part? but also underground labs are when it’s time to start using all your bullets you’ve been hoarding too

A single zombie in the right (wrong) place can be a shake for any player but running 3rd person shooters in this vein ultra heavily, when I zoom and look at each encounter, the lab’s lounge type hallway with vending machines (and a small crowd including double licker setup) is my only moment of slight peril. If a strong shot misses or they do that annoying jump-slash down from the ceiling. Talking aside from a stalk by Coated Bastard.

The semi-rng (?) positioning of each plant type in the greenhouse area can be nasty to misgauge distance wise but even on highest difficulty, burnt quick with one right blast.

I did have a few X deaths there though, yeah.

you just have to use whatever flame weapons you have available to clear out as many ivies as possible before that segment

once mr x appears again I believe several more spawn from the ceiling but if you are quick you can breeze past most of them before they are a threat

leon gets the flamethrower, right? it’s practically useless on anything but the ivies. you just gotta dump all your fuel into permakilling as many as possible.

after many false starts, i finally finished revelations. though i don’t think the weapon system really makes sense outside of raid mode, the basic ooze monsters don’t provide satsisfying visual feedback when taking damage, the dodge mechanic is poorly implemented and the pacing is especially bad (here’s another swimming section, here’s another escort section, now back to swimming) i’m a complete sucker for the episodic television presentation. can’t not love an ultra-schlocky anime 24 centered on the politics of funding counter bio-terrorism organizations.

My favorite thing about Revelations is the multiple times you see copies of the Divine Comedy and then like literally during one of those cutscenes a character yells “He’s quotin’ Dante!!” in case the game was being too subtle for you. Raid Mode is hella dope too

pure anime writer “why yes i have read the western canon and i will make sure you know” bullshit. raid mode IS hella dope and i’ve played dozens of hours of rev 2 raid mode and still haven’t finished the campaign ¯_(ツ)_/¯

i want a whole game that’s just an expanded version of rev 2’s raid mode with the same kind of character variety as like, RE5 mercs reunion

my dream re spin-off is fused mercenaries/raid with an armored core like structure of gig economy bow extermination and viral sample procurement for the dozens of increasingly evil pharmaceutical companies in the re universe.

oh HELL yes I would play the shit out of this. make sure it has the melee combo system of re4/re5 and im fucking there

revelations 1 and 2 are both such pure schlocky comfort food and I hope they make more in the series

I love RE7 and the RE2 remake and how relatively “classy” they are and seem to build off of what REmake did but I hope there is room for more popcorn resident evil, it kind of looks like the RE3 remake might hit more in that area?

more games need colorful ensemble casts like revelations 1 has.

I just remember Rachel, because of her hair cut.

interesting, how did you trigger this?

i somehow triggered a state which broke all the enemy scripting five minutes into claire b and some very strange things happened including birkin idling during the entire first boss fight, but still taking damage!
