Quick Questions XIV: A Question Reasked

Perfect! Thank you. Based on what I have read on Wololo, the N64 version is now perfectly playable on both PS Vita and 3DS (through emulation)

I don’t think they are yet? My google searching says there’s been some big strides towards that, but Mario 64 isn’t playable yet.

The PC is probably the best way to go here. The n64 is hard to emulate at the best of times, and you’ll want as much power for it as you can get to keep stuff running smoothly.

you can also patch a regular old n64 rom to run in widescreen + 60fps (at whatever resolution)

Well, I have another (and totally unrelated) question… What’s the best Silent Hill game to play to this day? Is it Shattered Memories? Or is it, perhaps, still Silent Hill 2?

The first 4 are all great and worth it for different reasons. You’d be happy with any of them.

This is a great example of My Favorite Band syndrome, where you start off loving the critical darling and probably the best record, but after years of derangement you’re now constantly talking up their b-sides and early career experiments.

Dark Side of the Moon isn’t exciting any more, you’re blasting Ummagumma and Obscured by Clouds out the windows of your jeep.

Edit: I guess this would better apply if everyone were talking up 4, but sue me, I wanted to sneak Pink Floyd into this conversation.

4 is the one I started with, and a fine choice. But some people lose interest in the second half. I think 2 would be the one to go with if you think you’re unlikely to play through more than one.

That said, it’s hard to imagine finishing any of the first four and not being curious about the others.

Shattered Memories might not be the best one to start with, but it’s worth playing. Origins, too, for that matter. It at least approximates the same appeal as the first four.
