I’ve kept up doing puzzles, this is probably my fifth completed? This was another 1000 piece, I think the same brand that made the pinball one going off of all the irregular shapes. I especially love when the edge pieces don’t connect and have to be held in place by interior pieces.
Anyway, this one I got from a friend and it’s missing one piece, but has FOUR duplicate pieces, including this one that is both a duplicate but also not exactly the same???
This where’s Waldo like puzzle was a Christmas gift from last year, and was to be our grand return to puzzles after a long hiatus. But it proved to be surprisingly difficult, and grew monotonous after having it out and working on it regularly for almost two weeks.
Defeated. But we’re due a win soon, I can feel it.
A friend got me this one for my birthday, it was a fun build. Once you finished there was an extra packet of pieces to open and you rearranged some sections to add them in.
Did you ever solve 10, btw? No spoilers, but it’s a very rewarding solution. If you like 10, buy his “wave” puzzles.
If you like 11, buy the other puzzles that look like that. He’s done, like, 4 or five now.
In metal puzzle news, when I was in Vietnam I found a toy store that was selling official Japanese metal puzzles for, like, $10, when they’re usually about $20 when I ship them from Canada.
I bought 5 or 6 of them. I pretty much bought everyone I didn’t already have. I think I’ve solved 2.5 (didn’t revert one to its previous state). the harder ones in this batch seem a bit more tedious than fun, unless maybe they have a clever trick. I’ll probably get around to them at some point.
My current issue with Yuu Asaka puzzles is that they look so beautiful, but there’s not an obvious way to, like, display them on a shelf or something, and it seems like a shame to pack them away. I might end up buying acrylic universal stands or something.
Oh, also: if you like tetramino puzzles, I absolutely love this daily pentamino puzzle. There are tons of bootlegs, but I think this is the original:
Randomly bought this one off of Amazon. Took me a bit to really get into working on it. Had just the edge done for probably a month and only really put effort into it the last two weeks. It was pleasantly and surprisingly difficult. Pieces fit together nicely as well, it’s pretty well made for a cheap puzzle. This one was fun enough I’ll probably order more from that company and they have a bunch with that stained glass motif.
