Have any games had better graphics than the 720p Xbox version of Soul Calibur 2?
I’d say Tekken 8 has more detailed graphics, but better I dunno I think it could be debated.
Not so crazy, that’s about as good as graphics got.

Grandia 2 and Skies of Arcadia exist huge in my mind being the first RPGs i played. Skies was mine and everyone’s favorite at the time. I value Grandia 2 more now as a well told Anime Story with characters and a fun battle system. It is quick and breezy. Skies despite apperances is laborious and repetitive whenever it can be. The random battles grow to only have one option. One of the hopes I have if I can grab my old save off the VMU is plug it into an emulator and turn off random battles and just enjoy the environments. The South American village with the water slides, the walk up to the giant Pyramid, the koi garden in Japan Town.
And not having Aika spam her hit all enemies attack every 5 seconds. That’s also a game with Collect Crap a few years before that was just in every game.
I have remained fascinated by Silver and Evolution for 25 years but not enough to you know, actually play them. That’s not true I think I’ve played Evolution a few times and got immediately bored with a 2000s speed basic RPG battle system reminding me I am gonna die one
day.
I’m still proud of booji and my’s list of Dreamcast games that are Not on other Dreamcast lists.
The Dreamcast and its lack of copy protection turned me and my friends into fighting game and shmup FREAKS
I’m now deep into Slave Zero. But let’s back up.
My Dreamshell 4.0 arrived. I put in a SD card I had lying around and plugged it into my Dreamcast’s serial port. I proceeded with a few clicks dump all my VMUs, yay. Except for the dead one, of course. Was a little bit hoping it would work in homebrew. The main purpose of Dreamshell is if you want to play one of the 2D fighters with frame drops and stuffers as the serial port tries to read an iso. Great purchase of 2000 yen. Did the job in a few seconds.
Then I spent an hour fighting with vmuexplorer.exe and retroarch, redream, and flycast to get the saves working in an emulator. Let me tell you my Dreamcast folder is a Mess now.
I’ve been playing Slave Zero while the kid is at school on the Dreamcast. After I moved these saves I set up flycast and showed off to my friends some of these ancient saves. We watched the end of Grandia 2. We cheered browsing my friend guild cards in PSO. I couldn’t get Shenmue save to work because it only reads Slot A. My Skies of Arcadia save must have been on my dead memory card. I can hopefully get an end game save from the internet and a code to turn off random battles and just look around the world in an emulator.
So after that experience I loaded up my Slave Zero data and cackled that it worked in an emulator. I then cackled as the game cranked up the difficulty and fuck you-ness. Everyone was losing their mind over the game being “pretty cool.” Then there was a big titty bio-mechanical Spider Gundam. I am very glad I switched to an emulator because I had to start using save states as the game really introduces enemies that will shred your health and traps and black voids to fall into. Despite the early stages being pretty short I think Mission 13 took me a full 90 minutes in this action game. Also there was no Mission 10.
It is a game thas as aged very well and got horrible reviews at the time. I think 25 years of FPS/3PS console controls make it much more playable than it was at the time. And that it is a janky PoS with the sound cutting out or frame drops are completely okay now.
What can I say I love a janky mech game for a Sega Console (Heavy Nova, Metalhead, Slave Zero).
More or less done with this adventure as my Dreamcast’s Power Button has started sticking just tonight and I do not have the proper screwdriver to get into the Dreamcast and then replace the 26 year old screws. I have decided that is Future Rudie’s Problem. Also I bought an HDMI dongle that does not work. I grabbed my saves, decided “I think i do just prefer emulating Dreamcast titles.” (we’ll cross the FPGA bridge on the Mister Successor (No Seriously It Is Really Coming Trust Us!))
Do I feel like an absolutel betrayer putting the Dreamcast lovingly back in the box and putting the PS2 back in its place so I can play this 50 yen Junk copy of Bujingai? Yes but the old war is over with.
As I put the Dreamcast away I set it down next to my new shoes I was debating if I liked the color of.
“Oh.” I said.
If you could get a dreamcast swirl charm for the laces thad be pretty sick
Replacing the power supply in my 9/9/99 Dreamcast with one I got for like $15 and swapping the tired optical drive with an ODE a few years ago was a solid move. I should try Slave Zero!
oh I just got a sleeping bag in this color combo
Edmonton would be proud

Been going through games I somehow have not played on the system, and landed on Tokyo Xtreme Racer. This is a fun game that feels good to drive around in. Me and my beat up Corolla outpacing other reckless drivers to the sound of “Definitely Not ‘Night of Fire’” is a good experience. Less good are the drivers that like to swerve in front of you and slam on their brakes as you’re about to pass them.
bosonanic lol
ah this was my first Tokyo Xtreme racer and what made me fall in love with the series. I couldn’t finish it because it got too hard, but when I went back to the newest release and went around the old loop it felt like coming home
if you want to hate yourself get Vanishing Point, the only racing game I got so mad at I snapped the disc in half
Bullshit those are Islanders colors

Hilarious that both of these teams exist in the same league. Pick a new color!!! Otoh Orange and Blue is a great combo so I can’t blame them… When it pops it pops…
