Nier 2

2B in her default outfit is still a massive massive improvement over Kaine in Nier.

I mean at least 2b is wearing actual clothes and not JUST lingerie and bandages.

Uhā€¦ okay??? Not my point

Oh, I know. I was relating it back to the Bayo conversation going on. It was an easy joke, not meant as any argument towards you.

I bought Neir 2 today but I think Iā€™m going to have to finish Dishonered 2 first because Iā€™m super into it, but Iā€™m worried I wonā€™t have time to beat Neir before Persona comes out :frowning:

LIke I said before the explosion today, if you just do the main plot line you would get to where I am in (early in Loop 3) inā€¦8 hours? Thereā€™s a lot of distraction to have, but if you go point to point it is a pretty short game.

Loop 3 is pretty good!

Yā€™all are gonna be real upset at loop 3ā€™s outfit!

I think the combat is likely to please most people who arenā€™t fans of platinum and people like myself who really wished the original game could be just a little tighter; it feels like a loosey goosey action RPG that still has solid dodge counters and decent heft to it. and the bullet hell parts arenā€™t as self-defeating as in the original.

some really beautiful cinematography in this (there isnā€™t a better word for it) even if the world geometry is conspicuously bland. so far itā€™s oscillating a little too much between being really heavy handed and really sublime, but a very worthwhile experience nevertheless. normal difficulty has reached a point of being okayish, too; the hardest part is not forgetting to heal.

I really hope I get more boss fights like the carnival one because it was wild but Iā€™m given to understand the game ā€œloopsā€ a lot and I feel like Iā€™d seen that fight prominently in the trailers so weā€™ll see.

nier 1 was too easy and nier 2 has a hard mode but the first checkpoint apparently isnā€™t for a while after its tedious unskippable opening shooter thing, so i guess iā€™m playin normal mode.

edit: nvm you can just change the difficulty whenever

trying to decide whether to just buy this tomorrow or wait a week for the slightly cheaper pc release we donā€™t know much about

how is the soundtrack???

I guess Iā€™ve heard two thirds of the music between where Iā€™m at and throwing the OST on. I feel itā€™s at least on a comparable level to the original, maybe a little less magical but thatā€™s probably from it following footsteps and expectations.

All the music Iā€™ve heard so far has been pretty good and at least as enjoyable as the originals. I like it a lot!

The game does the nice thing the first did where the audio mix changes depending on where you are in an area and in best-case scenarios makes for some lovely transitions as you move from place to place.

thereā€™s a lot of tiny details in this game that tie back to Nier and Drakengard 1/2/3 so far which is good because even tho I have played every game in taroā€™s weird series ive not actually beat any of them except for Drakengard 1

really enjoying running around and just watching 2b move. if thereā€™s one thing platinum manages to make really enjoyable in just about every game they make itā€™s how much fun it feels to move characters in their games

kind of feels at this point like 2B is a decoy protagonist, she seems to have less lines than 9S on a whole and seems to be more actively involved in the plot of things

also, kind of neat that if you go into the desert and explore the outer rim of it, you can find a bunch of emil/bio weapon heads that are giant sized inexplicably in the desert.

also weird to be playing a yoko taro game with references to other square games

pros:

  1. choice between moose or hog

  2. ability to accessorize

  3. these robots wanna FUCK

This makes me so hype. Even just the little DLC mask that game with the day one edition made me happy. As did making my pod look like a PS1.

hereā€™s a curious question: at the beginning of the game when the game presents you with non hostile robots, did you attack them or not?

I did originally, because I just anticipated everything was going to attack me. Once I figured out they are non-hostile, I backed off.

did you figure out you could get your body to fight with you when you die?

hereā€™s my favorite moment in the game: finding out that I could get 2Bā€™s large katana back by going to the same place she lost it in a cutscene

I havenā€™t died yet, though i am probably gonna check out of this thread now for spoilers and such.

Good thing you have the Nierpert (Nier Expert) on speed dial for any questions.

God there are things in this game I have been waiting to discuss with anybody.

here i am
