Sony faces a large and oversized negative response to this news and reconsiders.
They presumably have the private halves of the encryption keys needed
I’m sure this move will do wonders in helping convince slightly underinformed consumers that the PlayStation has games.
Feels like the end times
Sony and Microsoft are both taking a Beechcraft Bonanza
more like nintendo: forces you to pay 30 percent of your income forever if you pirate too hard like come on. they don’t deserve praise either (sorry everyone is glazing nintendo in the comments on that post)
how else are they going to pay for those raises they’re giving workers
Nintendo: we still don’t give a shit about accessibility
No new games 20xx
THAT’S RIGHT
Really feels like whatever dreams I had of doing professionally in videogames are well and truly dead because they no longer exist or are rapidly dying. one day it was there and a few years later it was completely gone. i trained and studied all my life for it to just suddenly be over. I really don’t know what to feel anymore.
soon we’ll x out all the numbers and be free from new games forever
so what happens if Sony decides to shut everyone up by showing receipts of shifting digital/physical sales ratios and holding the mirror up to the hordes
well I guess I’ll have no choice then but to go “Oh they have a reason for doing this beyond pure malicious whim! very well! only ever renting some bullshit licenses from bullshit digital stores is fine I guess, everyone else is doing it!”
Everyone will immediately call it fake.
Not endorsing their decision but uh… gestures at Steam.
console gamers often don’t use steam because they like physical media though. hence the flailing
Current estimates are that 80-90% of console gamers are buying games digitally though.
