Plot feels too much Mortal Kombat. but it doesn’t matter - none of this matters

This movie looks completely unwatchable.

cammy and chun li’s “from the game” costumes look so cheap, like off-the-shelf halloween costumes or something.
that dress uniform we see cammy in for like half a second looks good though.

no more hollywood fighting game adaptations please. get some hk guys to do the next one. or at least someone who doesn’t hate the source material and think it’s garbage for morons and only fit for mockery

i don’t want to be so negative about it, but like, i’ve got to be honest.

his hair seems way too short already though?

How often do you see this emote? Because from my research it was only at the Akiba KFC with a specific order for less than a week. KFCs are pretty common here.

I’ve only seen it a few times, definitely less times than the emote that came with the 250 dollar statue

Never fully understood WHY none of those went the full HK route or somesuch. Politics and business I guess but you can’t tell me getting a bunch of Indonesian experts to go ham wouldn’t actually do a fighting game justice

I basically cut my teeth on 2-hour Glorious Trainwrecks events (though my entries frequently ballooned up to 4 hours), which we might call game jams. It taught me a lot about how to actually make and finish a thing, which I’ve been able to extend out to other projects of varying scope. Useful for me, but not everyone, presumably.

It helped me defeat my inclinations toward endless revising and tinkering, leaving a bunch of unfinished projects loitering on my hard drive. I’ve slowed way down in my production lately, though I can still occasionally finish off a project in a couple weeks or a month.

That’s me, personally, of course. Not everyone’s thing. These days, I like smaller, more community-centric game jams (that tend to be flexible with time participation) than the giant free-for-alls like LD and GMTK. There is an upcoming local 6-hour game jam that I’m very excited to participate in that I know a lot of people are finding intimidating, though I do worry I might creatively freeze up and come up with nothing.

Yeah I got started with glorious Trainwrecks, was a really great way to start. I did other jams later like molyjam and ludum, but only in person with other people .. the social aspect was what I loved about it, I tried doing some jams at home but it wasn’t the same without shooting the shit with peeps. The only ones I liked doing on my own was when they had a really unusual theme… So not ludum because they tend to be a bit bland with theirs.

Also the last social jam I went to was hosted by a business with prizes and shit and felt too professional like everyone wanted their jam game to eventually turn into a product instead of actually experimenting or making something weird and have fun with it. fuck that. The vibe was awful and put me off doing them again

Charity jams are also an exception, I like those

I do miss the old jam days but all the people I jammed with are old with lives now lol. Like me, I guess! Maybe I should do klik of the month again… If it still happens

As an aside, I was at the game jam where hollow knight was first prototyped. You wouldn’t have known it would be so huge, the jam version was dogshit lol

New Splatoon out July 23rd, between this and the new rhythm heaven out July 2nd no wonder July is called The Month Of The Gamer

I don’t think they’ve done them in years. The site now has its calendar dominated by multiyear ‘events’ with no game submissions, which are the only things that can appear on the front page, which is a bummer. I myself have thought about trying to get re-involved, maybe get KotM’s going again, but I feel like it’s really just a thing of the past now.

I’ve occasionally considered organizing a KotMC style jam on SB, mostly just focusing on “get some shit done in a night”. Admittedly I was never there for the actual ones but the spirit of them was always so inspiring.
