I hadn’t heard about Lifeline until last year when I watched this envtuber’s letsplay of it which legitimately made me love the game despite never wanting to play it.
The final patch introduces account progression, a skill tree, a new warden, and a new weapon. Game permanently shuts down on March 12.
I think it would’ve survived if it had launched on reveal at The Game Awards, with 5v5 included. Instead it got to be a joke for a month, only to bowl us over with the howler of an “epic siege battle” game being 3v3. It’s mid, but there are many worse and uglier games that are still online (everything by Hi-Rez, for instance).
I think the Game Awards overhype doesn’t help but often multiplayer success does tend to require your game be sticky enough to draw attention (relative to your budget/scope/audience) away from the other established behemoths.
I haven’t played but dare I say Highguard is just not very remarkable?
what would have saved Highguard is if it was a game mode in a Rust server that you found out about because the dev blog mentioned some popular maps they thought were neat.
I really don’t love the first game, but I will always think of it as the game that brought Susumu Hirasawa to my attention. The first one ended on Paranesian Circle, which is just an incredible song.
I couldn’t play the first game for more than like 10 minutes before putting it down permanently with a case of Terrible Controls. Maybe this one will be better but tbh the animations in the gameplay part of that trailer do not inspire confidence.
Yeah something about the melee range or how the swinging animations were built, I think, made it super hard to confidently land attacks when I was playing it.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma has confirmed that Xbox’s next-gen console, called Project Helix, will also play PC games. https://bit.ly/4sqUpTW
Now you can play Heiankyo Alien on PB-100.
damn ok…
Huh, maybe the Steam Machine has got them rightfully nervous.
Would explain why Sony isn’t putting their first party stuff on PC anymore. They don’t want people buying their games on steam and playing them on the next Xbox lol.
HOW
is there a demo video somewhere??
I guess it displays the level line by line? Can you go up and down? Sounds hard!!!
