it sure does look like a videogame
The cutscene direction and tone being so similar to 5 makes me wary.
just saw a new undub (and performance enhancing??) patch for IREM’s raw danger! (zettai zetsumei toshi 2) … one of my fav games of all time, reminds me a lot of the cinematic platformer genre and team ico’s games, produced by kujo kazuma (whose credits also include steambot chronicles, the recent disaster report 4, and arcade classics in the hunt and the original metal slug)
this is another game like ico and shadow of the colossus where the zooms look like actual zoom lenses
my first thought
if you save ten dollars a month until it comes out, you can afford it
how merciful from our video game overlords, giving us time to slave away in the American iPhone factories
A game where you play as the son of a florida landlord with a latina gf is literally wish fulfillment for a lot of young men I bet this game is going to do great
I’ve not tried one since San Andreas, but do people play GTAs out of obligation or are they really hoping to get something out of them?
people love gta it’s not unpopular for no reason. they love the movie story and the life simulation. The American cultures. GTA RP is literally the most popular form of online roleplay in the world
to me, GTA has traditionally been the monied means to get to the actual Good Rockstar Game thats happens after.
GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, 4&5, were cool novelties and I sunk a lot of hours, but the games I remember and like better, Bully, LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption/2, even frickin Table Tennis, all imo felt tighter and better designed and better paced with better stories than the big sandboxes and whatever that generation of GTA has.
it’s all of course different now because AAA game development is a much bigger, nastier and in a lot of ways more flattening kind of phenomenon and GTA V has sort of existed for over a decade as a live service experience or whatever so if there is a bigger, better game after this it’ll cost so much and probably crunch so many people that it’ll never feel worth it. but to be fair, i’m saying this as a grumpy old man who’s never going to buy a non portable videogame device ever again so this thing probably won’t end up on my personal radar for years
Rockstar should make a follow-up to Uniracers and then use their GTA6 profits to crush Disney-Pixar into fine paste in court.
i have a very complicated relationship with rockstar and gta 6!!!
gta6 looks boring to me, i wish they would set the games somewhere interesing, the only part of it that appeals to me is getting a car and just driving for as far as i can.
everyone who feels this should play motor town or beamng drive or my summer car or something instead of GTA
i wish someone would make more games that are like the good gta games: 1 and 2.
they did!! it was called shakedown hawaii!!
I don’t know if it’s any good, but at some point “Rustler” must not have been enough so they amended the title with that little bit in the parentheses there.
Edit: Also it’s not exactly like GTA…at all, other than being top down and driving around doing stuff, but Deliver At All Costs is coming out soon and is gonna be free on Epic for about a month. Demo was pretty fun.
I will never play a video game where the main character sounds like what that dude sounds like in the gta trailer
Apologies in advance, but this comment has triggered my amygdala to resummon a gripe I had banished to oblivion almost two decades ago:
I played the original PS2 version of Bully, and I experienced its pacing as agonizingly glacial. The quest structure involved constantly entering and exiting school buildings, incurring a long loading screen every time. I was baffled none of the glowing reviews ever mentioned that.
To be sure, loading screens were a common problem back then. But I remember Bully as among the worst offenders. Which is ironic, given that Rockstar was a pioneer of streaming in levels without interrupting gameplay in GTA3.
there’s also The Long Drive and Drive Beyond Horizons, I’ve played The Long Drive and found it pretty ok. Drive Beyond Horizons seems better constructed.
I liked Retro City Rampage somewhat, was Shakedown Hawaii a big improvement?
