looking at their store, it’s just Earnest Evans that has a cart version, which checks out, Japan got the game for Mega CD and we got it on cart but Anett Again was only ever a CD game
I’d be more interested if the cart version of EE they’re selling was that proto that got dumped a while ago that has the cutscenes in it, translated, a thing which my broken, Telenet-loving brain may have imagined
conspicuous by its avsence: el viento, the only part of this trilogy that isn’t awful garbage (though it did get a cartridge reissue in japan a few years ago, sans the self-aggrandising LIMITED RUN GAMES!!! livery all over the packaging)
100% would not shock me if Retro-bit did an El Viento cart when I wasn’t paying attention seeing as they did Valis I/SD/III MD carts and probably hold the license for the west for some reason
Everyone has already started clowning on this gacha comprising genderswapped versions of your shounen favs (see below) but beyond the AI voiceover the DVD menu esque watermark in this is incredible.
Yeah, unfortunately the speed at which memory cards can read is still going to be a problem for anything that uses FMV a lot, but it’s still a nice improvement.
re: that PS2 thing, i played a remarkable number of games with minimal issues (FMVs are usually the thing that causes any kind of stutter, yes) over USB 1.1, which is twice as slow as the memory card slot on PS2, so i suspect this should be pretty decent overall. even when playing FMVs, not every game would stutter over USB 1.1 - maybe not even a majority? - so probably even more of the library is playable without noticeable issue over the memory card slot
I only really had an issue with it with Xenosaga 2, which is why I am going to harddrive mod my fat PS2 at some point when I want to pick that back up.
i’ve skated by most of it! not a recommendation. i’ve probably just been lucky. though i did have a crash that lost me some progress last night, after this patch hit so……
