News Thread 10: Beautiful Posts

looking at their store, it’s just Earnest Evans that has a cart version, which checks out, Japan got the game for Mega CD and we got it on cart but Anett Again was only ever a CD game

I’d be more interested if the cart version of EE they’re selling was that proto that got dumped a while ago that has the cutscenes in it, translated, a thing which my broken, Telenet-loving brain may have imagined

conspicuous by its avsence: el viento, the only part of this trilogy that isn’t awful garbage (though it did get a cartridge reissue in japan a few years ago, sans the self-aggrandising LIMITED RUN GAMES!!! livery all over the packaging)

100% would not shock me if Retro-bit did an El Viento cart when I wasn’t paying attention seeing as they did Valis I/SD/III MD carts and probably hold the license for the west for some reason

edit: lol, lmao

the Telenet brainworms have won again

Everyone has already started clowning on this gacha comprising genderswapped versions of your shounen favs (see below) but beyond the AI voiceover the DVD menu esque watermark in this is incredible.

does this mean the modded fat ps2 i just put together is altogether stupidly obsolete? sorta glad i got to have that experience even if so

Maybe not obsolete as much as there’s a different way to accomplish the same goal?

Capcom really was on the bleeding edge when they stuck a bunch of electric prods up Yusaku’s rotting corpse.

this monhun wilds benchmark looks great, I really love how meaty all the character models are, it makes the whole thing animate really beautifully imo

it’s one of the first current gen games whose visual style is like… really busy in an impressive way

Why is LRG still in business… like, why didn’t they just hang it up after they decided to burn D to a CDR

i think running games from a HDD is still a bit better, but going forward probably not something that needs to be done as much

Yeah, unfortunately the speed at which memory cards can read is still going to be a problem for anything that uses FMV a lot, but it’s still a nice improvement.

re: that PS2 thing, i played a remarkable number of games with minimal issues (FMVs are usually the thing that causes any kind of stutter, yes) over USB 1.1, which is twice as slow as the memory card slot on PS2, so i suspect this should be pretty decent overall. even when playing FMVs, not every game would stutter over USB 1.1 - maybe not even a majority? - so probably even more of the library is playable without noticeable issue over the memory card slot

Those memory cards are out of stock everywhere until at least april

Oh yeah, totally.

I only really had an issue with it with Xenosaga 2, which is why I am going to harddrive mod my fat PS2 at some point when I want to pick that back up.

I did want to buy those, but anyone that buys an EA remaster on launch that clearly had a hard deadline for release is asking for trouble

i’ve skated by most of it! not a recommendation. i’ve probably just been lucky. though i did have a crash that lost me some progress last night, after this patch hit so……
