Neo Geo Mini

SNK is releasing a Neo Geo Mini
It’s a tiny arcade cab with 40 games.

It has two controller ports which appear to be (edit) USB-Type C
The controllers are based on the old Neo Geo CD gamepads, but are not click sticks.
It has a screen, but also has the option of using HDMI-out.

These game selections are good. I’d have preferred Neo Turf Masters over Top Player’s Golf, and it would have been nice to have SVC: Chaos, but overall I like these lists.

I like Robo Army and Metal Slug 5 so I think I’ll prefer the international version, but
Twinkle Star Sprites and Ninja Commando make the Japanese version tempting.

Thankfully the shared line-up includes KOF 97, KOF 98 and Metal Slug, so I’ll be happy with either.

I really hope that’s not the case. This video description claims the Neo CD style controllers are using USB Type-C connectors, which would make it a good fit to use with Android phones and Nintendo Switch games.

for a lot a lot more money

I mean, presumably. this is SNK, who knows.

boooooooooooo :frowning:

No clicky stick who the hell are they kidding?

The clicky sounds were nice, but they were the most fragile 1st party controllers ever made.

international selectin sucks ll

Seems pretty good to me.

exclusives include:

Last Resort
Magician Lord
Metal Slug 5
Robo Army
Shock Troopers

I could have a good time with those.

I want to live in the world where those five games make up for not having TSS

NAM-1975 is a glaring oversight

so is Windjammers.

Windjammers is Data East though (note how FHD is also missing)

I think if SNK cared, they would get the few third party titles that people dig

good thing Hamster is doing that (they’re putting out Money Idol Exchanger, the Queen of Games)

For Japan, the NEOGEO mini will be released on July 24 at the retail price of 11,500 yen, which goes up to 12,420 yen after domestic tax ($104.50 and $112.90 USD, respectively).

Available accessories for additional purchase include the NEOGEO mini PAD stick in black or white (3000 yen / $27.00), a set of screen protectors (600 yen / $5.45), HDMI cable (900 yen/ $8.20), and character stickers (random pack of 4 out of 12, 1000 yen/ $9.10). All prices are post-tax.

I’ve heard it outputs a less than ideal resolution. Blurry.
