denholm elliott’s czech accented delivery of “so bUuuUUUuuugger off” in bad timing is a non-video game thing i think about a lot. one of the great movies about insidious evil and how it’s viewed from within the warped psychology of the malefactor, up there with taxi driver/crimes & misdemeanors/spoorloos but unique in how long it holds off for. its modern equivalent could have been the drop with tom hardy but then that movie cowards out at the end.

A Useful Ghost…hot damn. beautiful cinematography, anti-capitalist, gay, and particularly Thai historically in ways that surely went over my head but with a potent sense of submersion nonetheless…also delightfully cheeky…and it’s a debut feature film!? I’ll be keeping an eye on this Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke. idk if it was tulpa or sykel that first put it on my radar via letterboxd but both rated it highly and so I picked it for our movie night tonight and all were wowed (I mentioned it to the barista this morning and she wrote it down and now I must follow up with her to watch it (and also recommend to my train buddy/queer union steward))

wish I could pull off a Nat cosplay…the way her unchanging outfit shifted with my perception of a vision of longed-for wife to robotic capitalist-tool assassin…re/de-humanised by elites…many layers!

Useful Ghost is such a great movie, I should’ve posted about it here. I love the way it develops an entirely unique angle on ghosts, slowly pulling them away from personal trauma and towards societal trauma

And yeah I love how thoroughly gay the movie is

The main point of reference, directly named in one scene, is the 2010 crackdown on protests
