they are honestly really good for the price and availability

like you get pickier about every aspect of them but for $60 to get swappable switches and bluetooth &c. &c. it’s easy to recommend

Also finally went tenkeyless, picked up this bugger to compensate

also the pastel lighting option is incredibly tasteful compared to most RGB, QMK is probably going to add support soon, the mediocre keycaps are not a big deal because buying keycaps is fun, my only genuine complaint is that they’re like half a centimeter too tall because they didn’t want to engineer a thinner battery and you pretty much need a wrist rest

If it collapses downward wouldn’t you always be shoving it down when intensely pressing buttons during heated gamer moments

my brother’s new mame stick. hes real into pre 90s arcade games. he built it out of MDF with custom graphics that sadly were slightly off scale so he cut out the elements

What switches did you go with? I’m thinking of getting a K4 with browns for the typing/gaming combo.

I have a K4 with optical reds and the full aluminum RGB, but now that they’re offering optical browns with the basic white blacklight so cheap I would jump on that

for anyone curious about the unicomp model m

gateron brown but i only decided based on description really - don’t have a tester and hadn’t really used anything mechanical before. i love the way they sound and feel and they don’t feel too hair-trigger

iirc the keychrons that ship with optical switches are swappable and the gaterons aren’t – I would always go optical if it’s vs. gaterons, it’s only if you have the option for the full range of cherry or kailh switches I wouldn’t immediately prefer optical

I can’t seem to find the K4 optical brown/aluminum frame combo in stock anywhere! I have zero preference on backlight color.

the aluminum frame is not that great imo if you don’t care about the backlights, though the backlights are actually nice because they do pastels and not just aggressive RGB

very off brand i have been using a filco with browns lately, extremely My First Mechanical Keyboard but good

had one with white alps that gave up the ghost recently and let me tell you that shit was deafening, buckling springs had nothing on them
