The Tourbox has been discussed before, but I was staring at it this morning trying to decide if it seemed more like something Nintendo would design or Sega would design
Nintendo obviously loves unusual inputs, but the Dreamcast controller muddies the waters for me. “Let’s put a tiny portable video game system in this controller” — a company that would do that is capable of anything
If maybe DataEast had ever made their own console I could see them having a controller with a bunch of weird things on it, or some company that had a ton of arcade games that used trackballs, paddles, rotary joysticks, etc and wanted to make zero compromises home ports
I guess the steam controller is the closest real life analog I can think of offhand (if we’re barring specific and unusual third party stuff), with it’s triple paddles and “great on paper” trackpads
EDIT: oh wait Sony made all the ps2 buttons analog and seems committed to adding a trackpad no one really uses. And the vita had front and rear touchpads. This issue grows murkier and murkier as I delve ever deeper into this thought experiment I’m conducting instead of doing the overtime I’m supposed to be doing this morning

Except maybe the 32x* — which I’m sure they would have wanted to do if cartridge size allowed — this looks shockingly plausible as something sega would actually prototype. It’s really not weirder than some of the more outre prototypes we’ve seen from Nintendo, Sony, sega, etc
*I COULD imagine them considering some sort of enhancement device that plugged into the controller. Something like, but not, a RAM cart like the N64 and Saturn had — I know nothing about this stuff, but RAM connected by a cord seems like a bad idea.

this looks like a controller for a specific extremely niche type game like densha da go but its about something like docking various space ships to the international space station.
would come in black and limited edition NASA and Roscosmos colors.

barely-announced (they had a poster at Gamescom) Gamesir G7 Pro is the new hotness to watch for: all microswitch, toggle-able analogue/microswitch triggers, weird dpad disc… apparently they have Xbox cert (this never happens for third party wireless pads ?) and somehow also gyro and Steam Deck style touch-sense thumbsticks… perhaps different SKUs ? should be interesting in any case

Wario64 keeps posting about how the time to convert the Stadia controller to Bluetooth is almost up (“Why doesn’t Google keep the updater online” I ask, forgetting they kill stuff on a whim constantly), which reminded me that I had one I already converted but haven’t really used.
Charged and paired it to my Steam Deck and…hell yeah, this thing is alright. At least for UFO 50, anyway. Gotta try some more stuff with it.

I can only assume it is my incredible artificial testosterone coursing through my body altering my magnetic waves that has caused every controller I own to have stick drift (ps5, xseries, ps4.)
I of course got the surprise every pc player gets when they plug in a ps4 controller and suddenly do not have sound.

Will a cheap used Xbox Elite 2 fix all my stick drift problems?
As I understand it (maybe they’ve fixed it by now), you’ll be trading “sticks that eventually drift” for “shoulder buttons that almost will certainly break.”
At least that was a persistent issue with the V1s.
Might be best off getting one of the newer 8Bitdo controllers with Hall effect sticks.

My only beef with this controller is that, at least on mine in particular, pressing down on my D-Pad almost always registers a tilt to the right.
Led to a lot of deaths in Blasphemous 
Hopefully that’s just mine, though! I should see if maybe there’s a firmware update or something.
Their Joycon alternative has not left my Switch once since getting them, though. The only way to play the Switch portably as far as I’m concerned.
