methods of input (Part 1)

Still pondering a trackball mouse, but divided on whether to get one that places the ball under the thumb or under the fingers. My right thumb is honestly already a mess because of smartphone scrolling, but a thumb ball seems like it would be the most seamless transition.

I recommend abusing Amazon’s lax return policy. I have literally never had them reject a return.

my beloved 13? year old MX Revolution is finally giving up in a few ways, and while I assume it wouldn’t be too hard to repair and probably will, my current plan is to use Amazon returns to test out a MX Master 3 and a G604 before actually buying one of them used

I tried this and the right side of the grip is really weird - arbitrarily tapers and doesn’t leave enough room for ring/pinky. Would recommend the MX mice.

You can see the weird shape in this video around the 1:50 mark.

I think you will end up being correct. But I wanted to give the gaming sensor a try and see if the difference is noticeable for like, dragging control points around in indesign, I doubt it but who knows, what if this is what has been missing this whole time?

Which ones do you mean?

I wonder if anyone’s ever used an air hockey table as a mousepad.

Now I’ve found out that certain trackball mice can accept (with a bit of finagling) a standard U.S. sized billiard ball as a replacement for the stock trackball and like

Yes I’m that kind of dweeb

Omfg so cute:

They are tactiles, so not sure how much clucky me is going to like them, but my wife will probably appreciate them when she is on work calls.

i dug my model m out for the first time in a couple of months and yeah, nowt better

I read something I can’t stand

There’s an alternate universe where Sony’s PlayStation 5 controller took the cues from its DualShock Back Button attachmentand just added more paddles and inputs for players — an approach taken by the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, for example. It’s not a bad approach, especially for more advanced players that want that flexibility and customization, but it doesn’t make games more immersive or open up new ways to engage with what you’re playing.

Please revoke their license to use conjunctions until further notice.

A controller that demands you remain aware of it with a side of RSI. It might be more effective if it massaged your shoulders and reassured you of your purchase.

I answered the siren song of Voltswagen news

i mean, paddles make my carpal tunnel hurt like hell (and/or depending on position and frequency of usage, my whole hand just goes numb), so i don’t know that they are much of a solution either.

I just wish I could buy a mini-DualSense for my girlish hands, because this thing is practically the Duke.

Why aren’t smaller versions of controllers a thing? There are smaller versions of computer mouses.

As a person with giant hands, lemme tell ya, the Duke doesn’t even really work for them either. I know Hori made a smaller PS4 controller, so maybe they will do the same for the 5?

Today I saw this picture of pro wrestler Daisuke Sekimoto, who really only posts on Twitter about lifting weights to bulk up and hanging out with his kid. She wanted to play Mario Kart today and this was the result:

I feel this pain on a deep level. This is so much of my life. I have only played using a single joy in once and it was actually painful. Still won the game (winning against an 11 year old is not difficult), but also had cramps in my hands for days.

Huh, moments before opening this thread, the algorithm pushed this my way:
