Hmm, how couch-compatible is that, seems like it might require you to lean forward a lot?

It wouldn’t work from a couch, it’s standard table height. I also grab one of our 2 ‘dining room’ chairs when I use it, set up a normal keyboard & mouse or clamp some PC hardware to it

wheels make driveys much more better than sticks make fighters and flyems

Someone I know actually did this, and talks about making custom stenotype machines all the time. Uses this:

Its interesting how the auto-steer and stability management in games has gotten so good at their job that a wheel is harder rather than easier to use for general driving. I remember GT5 becoming suddenly a lot easier with a wheel but playing Forza Horizon on my buds setup the car in controller mode was just not as loose. Part of this is setup. Suspension setups optimized for controller is a lot different than it is for wheel.

I have no camera right now or Id post my racing wheel rig which started as collapsible but Ive since added an upright bar to increase rigidity/fidelity. I’ll say adding turnbuckles and tension bars / wires (like you see on screen doors) to resist flex is a really easy way to help with fidelity especially if you are drifting.

see auto steer and auto brake are the first things I turn off because it makes me feel condescended to like I’m playing some free to play one-button mobile racing game

I mean like how the stick input is interpreted as wheel turns with respect to the situation you are responding to.

Not sure if I ever posted my setup in this thread. I know I’ve posted a few videos in the Fading Brakelight thread.

It’s a Logitech G29 with 3D printed adapter for a 6 bolt deep dish wheel, Logitech shifter (sequential modded (removable) for this particular car), G29 pedals with the awful fake brake load cell, and a generic Amazon handbrake that seems to just be a mini Arduino hooked up to a lever. The seat is just a basic Playseat with the annoying bar in the middle that I have somehow gotten used to.

Am I better with a controller? Who knows. But this is so much dang fun!

oh right, sure

It looks like the current Logitech models are relatively available in Canada, is the G923 worth the premium or does it basically just come off looking worse than the Thrustmaster gear?

That’s a rad setup!

Also I don’t really keep up on driving games, so this is the first time I’ve seen a rally mode in a game that actually has a rally partner giving you directions off a notebook. I can’t believe we’re already there in terms of driving sim realism, it’s incredible.

I want a steering wheel but the only games I’d want to play are Outrun and Daytona USA. Is there a budget and desk friendly model for an occasional play?
