Did we solve the mystery of wireless stuff lag enough to not have to generally worry? I guess I’ve been using a PS3 controller for 11 years but still scoff at the idea of a wireless Keyboard or Mouse.
Apparently a wirelessly connected Dualshock 4 is less laggy than most wired fightsticks*:

*but the more active controllers connected to the system, the worse it gets, maxing out at 2 frames @ 60fps (or otherwise 32ms).
Dunno how reputable the tests are but there you go.
looks about right.

DS4 over BT has a much higher polling rate, likely compensating for the interference that wireless is subject to. tests seem to indicate wired v. wireless is more an issue of consistency and reliability than of time delay.
Hm, so now I need to find out how to build an arduino-based controller
I fully expected a horror reveal
I remember idly opening school mice to play with the superphysically dense rubber mouse balls and constantly being surprised at what they picked up
around 1999 they started gluing them shut, which…only solves some problems
I recall occasionally rinsing the ball from my SNES mouse with tap water
Didn’t the SNES mouse come with a scraper for cleaning the mouse ball and maybe the internal rollers?
Sheeeeit you know I probably lost that thing immediately
I was definitely still using it to clean my family’s Dell mouse until I got my own PC with an optical mouse around 2003.
Nothing as satisfying as cleaning a big chunk of sticky dirt off a mouse roller
Competes with getting out that chunk of earwax
You ever pull a mouse out of your ear?
A dead spider, once
hmm, is this new? wired version of the sn30 pro, interesting. $25 on amazon.
also have replacement boards for PS1, the Playstation Classic controllers, NES Dogbone, and Saturn pads now.
they are super legit, I wonder what their supply chain looks like
I bought and installed the PSX controller mod a few weeks back; it’s solid and I’d recommend it (and PS1 controllers aren’t near as fiddly to manage the R2/L2 buttons once opened as Dual Shocks). As you can see, the cord output is replaced with the charge plug, which also doubles as the status LED.
The Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro is an arcade stick that works as a controller itself but also has 20 SNK fighting games pre-installed.
In its controller mode, you can use the Arcade Stick Pro as a regular PC fighting stick or even hook it up to the tiny Neo Geo Mini. In “console mode,” the stick runs its own selection of games and outputs over HDMI. You can connect Neo Geo Mini control pads or another Arcade Stick Pro for multiplayer. Hopefully the video output and the precision of the stick will be better than on the Neo Geo Mini — both were issues with that product.
oh i see
That really just reminds me of how much I appreciate the look of the original NG arcade sticks (edit: I had a picture of the NGX, but clearly those people understood the look, too)
