methods of input (Part 1)

hard disagree, speaking as someone with both games on PC and 360

the fact that they had to put in 180 turn button says a lot

(I wish more games had it)

IIRC thereā€™s no aim assist in Valve console ports either?

I wasnā€™t sure about this but I popped L4D2 into my Xbone and sure enough it doesnā€™t

this seems odd considering Valve brought in a dev house to give the first game a once over for the 360 (hence the existence of the quick turn button) and I think they say as much in the dev commentary

at the same time I wasnā€™t having any issues hitting stuff so either it doesnā€™t need it or thereā€™s some minor bullet magnetism going on

Letā€™s talk about how Valve has been saying they were going to fix controller support in CS:Go for 9 years and havenā€™t. And if you ask about controller support you just get dozens of assholes saying use a keyboard and mouse scrub.

Last time I tried my controller would get recognized but the analogs would be reverse which you had to fix in console. And it would never remember you fix if you left the game for any reason.

Must have been fun to work at Valve and just pop up every six months to say ā€œweā€™re working on itā€ and then not.

I definitely remember the orange box feeling incredibly weird for not treating the left stick as analogue, so none of this seems that off.

Left 4 Dead is pretty damn horizontal, and stuff tends to cluster up and move in fairly regular paths, which isnā€™t unreasonable to track on a pad.

It just occurs to me, do any PC FPS even allow binding shit to a double clicked mouse button like in the old days?

New fancy lad controller just dropped

Notable things:

  • uses Microsoft boards
  • AAs (hell yeah, eneloops forever)
  • paddles are now built into the grip and back and appear to be operated with one finger hitting two each

They should feel better than hitting a tiny tactile button with a magnetic lever at a minimum.

The short-throw mode on the triggers is advertised as ā€œlike a mouse clickā€ which makes me wonder if thereā€™s some kind of tactile feedback when the stop is engaged.

Iā€™m about to have some Fanatec pedals and no wheel base, such is the nature of some things being available locally and some being preorders

no sax buttons :frowning:

Do you like the magnetic sax buttons? I played and loved the bass clarinet and will pick direct actuation 10 times out of 10

this is easily the worst thing about the 11" iPad Pro

I absolutely love the sax buttons on the Vantage, didnā€™t realize they were magnetic. Map jump to the right sax button for any 3d action game, itā€™s perfect
