this looks like a first draft of something from the 1970s buck rogers tv show or blake’s 7 finally they’re breaking out the good stuff
That’s Keri Russell
I have seen the Mandelorian, and I hate how perfectly Disney has completely nailed making them exact stupid TV show I want in my life right now.
It really helps that the first episode was directed by Dave Filoni. It really felt like Clone Wars and Rebels right out if the gate, and does all those shows usual great tricks to make Star Wars feel familiar and yet expansive at the same time.
Plus this has the best non-John Williams soundtrack for anything Star Wars yet I think?
And if I’m not mistaken the sand crawler scene was a very goofy super Star Wars refrence, yeah?
I dunno about Super Star Wars, but “life day” is a reference to the holiday special. And Mando’s rifle is also from that.
this Space Orc or some antecedent of this Space Orc has been to earth sometime after 1887
yes I know many Star Wars Blastems are dressed up Real Guns but they didn’t even bother dressing this one up
alternately: might be a Terminator???
That episode was like an episode of Hercules or something.
Also, overall the least well directed episode so far.
Gina Carano fighting in marshes was badass.
sometimes, when you’re Ron Howard’s kid, and they have a mid-season episode of a Star Wars show that can be summarized as 2 and a Half Samurai, they throw it your way so’s you can get your feet wet
I guess
I do value a Stars War for giving me stuff like this Very Serious Conversation About The Fate of A Green Puppet Between An Emotive Human Actor and Some Guy In A Stupid As Hell Action Figure Suit
nuh uh its not stupid!!!
it’s ok to be dumb as shit and stupid as hell
It’s so refreshing to watch a show that’s just pure junk food. 45 minutes of Star Wars exploding at you and then going away with some vague recollection of images and no need to think about ‘theories’ or act like this is anything deeper than big budget space Xena.
I think I might have made almost this exact same post before, and I’m making it again.
I will say though, his ship looks suspiciously similar to The Serenity in Firefly, and I swear they cast the dude who sounded the closest to Nathan Fillion circa firefly they could find.
Like I’m not saying that was a conscious choice, but it’s pretty suspect.
Yeah he often sounds A LOT like Nathon Fillion. I think some of it may be due to how they are modulating his voice through this suit. But the end result is me constantly double-taking on how he sounds.
Star Wars Kabuki version
actual performance starts at about 12:28
I didn’t last more than 5 minutes without wanting to play some Samurai Shodown.
probably won’t be able to do an entire star wars rewatch using @u_u order while working six days a week, but i have to try.
the most recent mandalorian episode was probably the worst one yet but still entertaining
for a show that does so much with so little dialogue, it’s really jarring whenever anyone actually speaks and the acting is about on the level of like a mediocre syndicated network tv sci fi show
but i respect the episode for the extremely dumb gimmick of revolving around people growing blue shrimp, a literal blue harvest
that plus the movie having a fantasy/sci fi aesthetic not entirely different from the ewoks movies and being directed by ron howard’s offspring makes it the most firmly embedded in the irl george lucas extended universe than anything that has come before it, it’s kind of awe inspiring really
