Let's just talk about Star Wars forever (Part 1)

the world isn’t ready ;___;

geez, i always forget how crisp and well lit all the ships in the original Star Wars movie are. Even though I’m guessing that’s from the Special Edition, they just don’t have the same kind of fuzzy blobbiness inherent in early CGI (which is very much the case for Young Jabba, it’s amazing how poorly that effect holds up vs. the gigantic Jabba puppet in Jedi)

no those are original edition. Check out the explosions, they don’t have that halo that was added in for basically every other edition.

feeling more and more like “my trilogy” is rogue one, 1977 STAR WARS, and the holiday special both because i like them the most and also because i like to watch the pristine sharpness of digital filmmaking slowly collapse into a vhs nightmare

If you go Clones -> Sith -> Jedi, Darth Vader is barely even a bad guy and Luke is a dark and mysterious stranger who already knows the truth and wants to murder his dad

I just saw the trailer ahead of Guardians 2 and it was 100x more exciting than anything in the entirety of Guardians 2

I heard a guy behind me say “We can probably leave now, that’s all I needed to see” once the trailer applause ended.

My friend turned to me and said he didn’t find there to be much to even get interested or impressed by. I replied “It’s just a teaser anyways, but for at least half the population, new Star Wars tends to be exempt from skepticism or doubt”. I could almost feel behind me dude’s shoe on my head for being so snide…I’m still trying not to be a jerk countering the hype beasts.

look at that picture of benecio del toro in high fashion cyber-urchin wear sneering at you from a space alley again though

That and the peek at whatever’s going on with the high society gala thing are far and away the coolest bits I’ve seen about Ep. VIII so far.

I hope they’re the same scene. Benecio is gonna crash the casino gala.

Oh shit they got Ant-Man’d!

But after months of shooting with only three weeks left to go. Ouch.

Franchise filmmaking is a treacherous business.

Whoa

It was probably their satirical “Space Gandhi” character that did them in. Shame.

internet already full of assholes speculating “obviously Lord and Miller refused to give in to Disney and Lucasfilm’s PC feminazi agenda and split!!!”

what a (shit) world!

Bizarre that both of the spin-off movies descended into development hell. Actually, not even development hell but uh… production/post-production hell. I would think that they would be able to avoid intense executive oversight.

All three spin-off movies, if you’ll remember the now-cancelled Boba Fett movie that perished in development hell.

Lord and Miller can do no wrong, this is a Very Bad Sign
