remake secret honor with jar jar

Part of me wonders if this means there will be problems for Johnson’s trilogy. But another part of me says that he helmed literally the only star wars project film project that hasn’t had some kind of behind the scenes clusterfuck since Star Wars VII.

Maybe Resistance? maybe?

(I’m counting the Mandelorian here because it was almost certainly a modified version of the cancelled Boba Fett film, even though it went pretty smoothly after it switched to TV)

Part of me wants to think that the rumors about a Taika Waititi-directed Star Wars film is directly connected to the Rian Johnson trilogy — that is to say Rian’s trilogy might still be happening, but he’s gonna have other folks direct each film rather than spend 6-9 years of his life helming a single project.

but that’s just wishful thinking

Erik Kain is a well-known hack fraud who supported Gamergate and this is just a naked attempt at stirring up a mob against critics who didn’t like ROS

That said, check out this professional writer not proofreading his posts lmao

His ā€œjust asking questionsā€ stance is so fucking infuriating/sickening

Fuck this guy (glad to have him on my radar now and have established this position, at least).

Also anyone complaining about a ā€œRotten Tomatoes scoreā€ in any context as if it’s an actual grievance can fuck off just for that

Somehow Rise Of Skywalker has also managed to become the worst-reviewed Star Wars movie ever made, falling to 52% on Rotten Tomatoes, just a percentage point below The Phantom Menace, a movie starring the loathsome Jar Jar Binks.

This is utter madness. Say what you will about the film, it’s nowhere near as bad as The Phantom Menace.

It’s just baffling to me that critics could collectively rank this lower than a movie as terrible as The Phantom Menace. That movie also had its good moments, but it was a complete mess.

But saying that Rise of Skywalker is actually worse than the worst of the prequel movies is a bridge too far and I’m disappointed it’s come to that.

he

he realizes that all the critics that rotten tomatoes tallies don’t get together in a volcano lair to calibrate the fresh/rotten tilt of their individual reviews before submission, right?

it was me

i was the one who bribed the reviewers. i told them to give rise of the skywalker bad review scores, and i’m not afraid of doing it again

who knows, maybe i’ll even tell them to give phantom menace good scores — three stars, four stars, maybe even five stars.

then it will be fresh — maybe even the freshest

watcha gonna do then?

cry in your crib like a little baby?

i thought so

am I the only idiot who has come to enjoy the political nonsense in TPM and feel the flaws lie entirely in the Anakin storyline

the obsession with political machinations probably tie TPM even more closely with the serial tradition than anything in the OT

I completely agree. I mean sure as a kid I liked Anakin’s arc but I never really understood all the hate about Space Politics.

There’s tons of things to hate about that movie (that I nevertheless, love) but the Space Politics angle always seemed like a weird one.

I like TPM, but I don’t feel qualified writing a wordy defense of it because even I have some dignity it’s been too long since I’ve last watched it.

I’ll just say that I like that the Trade Federation’s immediate reaction to finding out that the Republic sent Jedis as ambassadors is to attempt to murder them.

…

oh, and a completely unrelated note: Why hasn’t anyone used Maz’s line of ā€œthat’s a story for another timeā€ as an excuse to create a sequel to Yoda Stories? This has been bugging me all day.

I just like the racism

There are two Star Wars movies involving racing and neither of them are adapting the F&F formula wtf

The Solo movie is begging for Justin Lin and Chris Morgan to make family values crime schlock

had an epiphany while racking my brain over this last night: episode 9 is structurally identical to a randomly generated yoda stories scenario

ergo

the most sensible solution to ā€œfixingā€ rise of skywalker would be to replace it wholesale with a sequel to yoda stories. give me an infinite amount of procedurally generated episode nines (all equally canonical).

Vin would make a pretty good wookie.

Extremely rare hairless wookie.
