it turns out in practice this is like double goofy because they introduce a new character voiced by an actual new zealander and hearing the voices side by side using different pronunciations for everything (including the new character’s NAME) is wild and i guess maybe this doesn’t bother most americans but the fact that this guy has never done a good temuera morrison is still playing ten of him in one scene is amazing

I have found the pacing on the recent marvwars+ product to be really frustrating, so I’ve decided to just wait until The Clone Wars 2: The New Batch is over to start watching it

But of course “spoilers” are inevitable… it really bothers me that the successes of The Mandalorian have apparently convinced the people in charge of this stuff that the key to viral glory is to a) Have at least one not particularly obscure crossover cameo per episode and b) Conceal in all the prerelease trailers that the dynamic of the show is going to revolve around a precocious child of some kind

I found the characterization of the batch themselves extremely irritating. Rambo, Heavy, Lobot, Glasses. But then I called the guy with goggles “glasses toad” and imagined this show but all of the clones talk like toad and it was funny

I have to get high for Disney+ stuff

In-universe he’d be called Kolum Bo or some shit

would’ve been a great tie in to the divisive late episode where they fake Mrs Columbo’s death to catch out the killer

Bad Batch is still surprising me in its depths of badness. Struggling to pay attention to an episode that gives the backstory for the rancor and rancor handlers from Return of the Jedi.

An illustrious forum alumnus has indirectly informed me that this rancor could not be the rancor from Return of the Jedi because Muchy is female and the rancor from RotJ is male.

Speaking of RotJ, I can’t believe “Jedi Rocks” is only 12 minutes and 48 seconds into the special edition. It makes the movie feel four hours long.

I just put it on because my partner was insisting she loves Sy Snootles.

it is astonishingly bad pacing

The best part of rotj is everything before that song

rotj is good precisely until the moment luke removes his cloak

Return of the Jedi is good.

as a kid i was so used to (and obsessed with) lapti nek that i remembered the change to jedi rocks being so dramatic that i morphed it in my mind to being some kind of wild metal song and i was shocked as an adult that it’s just like an alien ike and tina turner joint

Trying to place Lapti Nek in pop music it sounds most like… Sting?

Smooth jizz

the good parts of rotj are the ewoks and the beginning

The bad parts are anything to do with the emperor and darth vader, that shit sucks

I honestly think one of the best parts of the prequels is helping to sell the climax of rotj a bit more. It is still probably not the coolest resolution to the original trilogy but with the prequels it at least doesn’t feel as completely unearned

Partial credit to Lando and his co-pilot during the finale I kinda liked their dynamic
