Oh yeah that’s fixed with Rebuilder! It’s a tool that lets you apply some fan-made patches to the game to run it better, such as unhooking the turn speed from the frame rate (what caused the issue). It’s basically required if you wanna have a good experience with the game nowadays lol
OOOOOH these both look fantastic!
maybe it’s all the crinkly right-angles in far closer proximity than you’d get in a modern open world game

this is the scene that persists in my mind. i guess the race track being a different mode of space that’s still a contiguous part of the world (not that you can directly drive out onto it i don’t think)
Forgot about this one but I also made an OC last week! (The idea for her has been floating around in my head for months, but I only got around to actually drawing her recently)
This is Mint, full name Mentha Lamia. She’s around Pepper’s age (whatever that is) and would become close friends with him after moving to the Island (some time after the events of the first game).
Her favorite food is mint chocolate-chip ice cream (wow what a surprise). Her biggest hobbies are roller skating and surfing!
Her closest friends on the island:
Pepper Roni
Mama Brickolini
Snap Lockitt
Nancy Nubbins
Her family would move to the island and set up an ice cream shop near the Brickolinis. I invented her and her family for a few reasons:
1- I just wanted to make an OC, cause they’re fun to make :3
2- Pepper is the only child on the entire island, he desperately needs a friend his own age.
3- Pizza is canonically the only food on Lego Island (since the Brickolinis’ is the only restaurant) and I figured a bit of variation would be nice
I played ten minutes of this game on my phone thanks to the browser source port, and immediately was assaulted by a variety of bespoke animations, an endless parade of cartoon BOINK and SPROING and SLIIIIDE WHISTLE and KAPOW noises, and a veritable feast of echolalia fodder (“, lego island’s tastiest comestibles,”), and this resulted in two things:
- i immediately understood the hook
- i could see a direct line from this to The Lego Movie and Lego Batman. absolutely charming
it’s like, YTP fodder extraordinaire before that was a thing
YEAHHHHH I love the "BOINK and SPROING and SLIIIIDE WHISTLE and KAPOW"s, as you put it. The game throws every cartoon sfx ever at you all at once and I love it
ALSO YEAH it shares a lot of similarities in charm/humor/sensibility with both of those, I mean the fact that I love those movies probably contributed a bit to me instantly being drawn in by this game.
Also, you will likely be pleased to learn that Lego Island does in fact have a few YTPs
Most of said YTPs revolve around one specific aspect of the game. So, if you play the game on a computer via a physical CD-Rom copy, and try to run the exe without having the CD in, this special animation plays. It’s very goofy and I love it so much (also the fact that they went to the effort of making a whole new animation just to tell you to put the CD in is very cool)
This one animation has been YTP’d to hell and back lmao (though there are of course YTPs of other aspects of the game as well)
hi paraphantom welcome!! this thread fuckin rocks
i never got to play this game as a kid but holy shit did i want to
