Is the X3 decent too?
Maybe? Not too sure, I’ve only used the X4. Sounds like the X3 is about half an inch smaller (I would say that’s…probably too small, given how small the X4 is), plus it uses a proprietary pogo pin cable instead of USB C like the X4. Otherwise it sounds like they’re functionally identical.

The only problem I have with this current gen of tiny ones is the lack of backlighting. The backlight makes reading in bed so nice.
I got a big kobo because I hate reading on a tiny phone, I like that I didn’t have to do a single thing to it to load books from my google drive it just lets me put any file on it by default

I really covet those big ones that have color e-ink. I can only imagine what comics would look like on that thing.

The ones I’ve seen aren’t very vibrant, so fine for some comics but would also totally kill the look of others

yeah, e-ink just dulls colors too much. but you can get one that’s large enough to display manga pages at a good size, and black and white looks great on e-ink. i got a (checks google to clarify this nonsense name) onyx boox nova air specifically to finish up Berserk on, and it’s great for manga and for books obviously. phones cannot compete with e-ink if what you want to do is read a lot of text, imo

In my head, it’s similar to what happens to color on newsprint, which has its own charm.
