the 60 minutes interview with Donald trump seems like something out of a political thriller he avoid every question and the interviewer just lets him sidestep and not answer a single fucking thing about policy or why he chose dude as his running mate at all
I also enjoyed how he answered Mike Pence’s questions for him.
theres the great part where he tells mike pence he can speak and then cuts him off and then like a minute later tells him and the interviewer how modest he is

I found an interview with him from a local station in like 1987, and he dodged every question there by talking about how much he loves Detroit. The only time he stayed on topic was to talk about how hot Bo Derek is.

i thought they would shy away from the whole “make america white again” ouevre to appear more ‘presidential’ but nope they’re going full steam ahead into dogwhistleland. can’t think of a single speaker at this convention less racist than rudy giuliani which is kind of impressive.

when giuliani was speaking i had chills and remembered when our history teacher had us spend a whole period watching speeches hitler gave to demonstrate how powerful (and consequently, dangerous) speeches can be even when you can’t understand a word of them. and the media treating this as if it’s just another election year. and not, you know, the naueseating chronicle of the most dangerous person to ever get this close to the US presidency

It is actually super easy to believe that “western civilization” created basically everything valuable. All of education in the USA tells you so. All it takes is to be vaguely dumb and also incurious, which helpfully describes most legislators.
