the idea of having a second more focused phone is very funny to me as if one couldnāt use this as a primary one. i had to do some dark magic to get Verizon to accept my blackberry key2 so i think i would have to change carriers for this.
thatās the problem with everything cool like this, most american carriers donāt take them besides like mint which seems to let you use any phone you want. this annoyed the shit out of me when my phone broke recently

Might fuck around and see if I can get Linux of some stripe going on my Surface Go 2. Supposedly the forced upgrade to Win11 really tanks its performance. And if something goes wrong itās not my main machine so

Really close to switching back to Linux for my main desktop. The only thing stopping me is having massive drives full of data that are formatted NTFS.

Linux will read / write NTFS just fine as far as I know. Though if Its an OS drive I think things like hibernate and fast boot features can give linux difficulty with mounting.

made a series of several mistakes and bad decisions from looking at Micro Center open box stock
I built a small heatbox to take into the office and live in the video encode mines (donāt mind the temp, thereās no intake or exhaust fans at the moment and the power limit hasnāt kicked in yet. I jumped into the bios and set PL1 at 125W and only lost ~5% speed on the encode compared to leaving it on auto, which is, as far as I can tell, 250W)

balls to the wall, fuck the power bill I donāt pay for it at work settings net me 60 FPS on the DCPomatic test encode, which you can compare to submitted recorded results over yonder
Iām happy until the PSU decides to explode under the weight of Intel power limits

well, before I jumped into the bios and tweaked the power profile, it was hitting 100c
granted, thereās just one fan and itās on the heatsink, so thatās okay by the metric of āitās not hitting Tjmaxā
this would not fly encoding a film longer than their test (which is 15 minutes long) or a 4k package, where the FPS is is more like 10-11
