I made a bingo card for the last episode
I said it on bsky already but GQuuuuuuX is so funny to me because they made an AU where Char is multiversally proven to be a loser who always dies bc of Gundam but heâs still just like, âbut not me thoâ
Now that the shows over and had two nights to mull over it I canât say I hate it but I ultimately found it underwhelming in so far as what it can bring to a discussion. I do think its an interesting celebration of Gundam fiction but that just feels kinda hollow after all the possibilities I thought it could be from its opening salvo of ideas it layed out. Itâs a pretty firework of a show. i can say that with confidence. Iâm certainly going to be a patron of the model line because I personally think the designs are sick and I will go full sicko mode for the Gyan Hakuji kit and pray for a kikeroga kit. I still had fun but itâs kinda like finishing a game and seeing your opponent go for some whack mixup that wouldâve been awesome if it landed but you know theyâre doing it for funnsies instead of serious and youâre in bracket. It mightâve played different if it was a full cour but I donât think weâd get the same visual treats given the current economic climate around animated productions and thatâs half the draw of GQuuux.
I do wish they didnât have to give Amuro such a big gap in the writing to avoid the bad press around the VA scumbag and just get a new voice like they did with Char this go around.
BIG laugh at Char actually getting lines in the final episode and he sounds like a 75 old man (because he is!!!), would have been funnier if they DIDNâT cast his original VA and just another septuagenarian and went along with it like what Lupin III Part 6 Episode 0 threatened to do.
Understood little about what tf was happening, but enough to be pretty underwhelmed by where the story and character arcs ended up. Certainly wouldâve been improved without having any connections to other universes.
Visually incredible, I absolutely loved how this show looked and how action played out. Maybe the first time Iâve ever liked several gundam designs too. Iâd love for this team to tackle another series-length story, hopefully an original one.
Dang, did the first one have so much CG? I donât remember, feels like itâs been ages.
the robots and vehicles were all cg in the original hathaway but the character animation wasnât as obviously rotoscoped cg as it is now
hathaway with the filtered jpeg backgrounds and robots who didnt move, only tweened >:|
Iâd had my expectations low so the GQuuuuuuX finale did meet and maybe exceeded them. Not bad, but ultimately maybe not very good. I was so into what this show was doing with its first 6 episodes. I do think it all wouldâve been helped if the show had more breathing room. But Iâll always kinda mourn the version of the show that followed through on the ideas presented at the showâs beginning.
I love Ikuto Yamashitaâs Evangelion designs, but honestly seeing the clean lines of the Okawara Gundam reinforced for me how much I am not a big fan of the main mobile suits in this series.
Bringing back the 1979 musical cues in episode 2 was so charming. I had forgotten all about those sound effects, but the moment I heard them again I was like, ânow this is Gundamâ.
