Smush = Smash

(Terry Bogard, yo!)

I hope it’s Athena Asamiya so they can include the Psycho Soldier theme

I mean, you’re saying there’s still a 3.6% chance it’s not Terry

I remember reading somewhere about a ‘very plausible’ leak that one of the characters would be a female fighting game character, so with the SNK thing I was totally expecting Mai Shiranui

So the two things are [Nintendo accidentally leaked it’s an SNK character] and [rumor that it’s “a girl with a mech who nobody asked for”] and the conventional wisdom is that the last two are Terry Bogard and D.Va from Overwatch especially since Overwatch is coming to Switch

And the popular wildcard idea is both of these being the same thing and it’s somehow the Metal Slug girls

So obviously top picks are

Tron Bonne
Elta from Magician Lord
Michelle Rodriguez character from Avatar
Che Guevera/Fidel Castro from Guerilla War
Danica Patrick inside the Hornet from Daytona but Fighter’s Megamix Style
It’s Rugal with God Rugal from Capcom vs SNK as his Final Smash

It should just be Andrew Jackson from Samurai Shodown VI.

There’s nothing that could go wrong!

would rather play as a power glove than any of the stupid, goofy non-Nintendo guest characters they’ve added/plan to add. i can play as terry bogard in a bunch of better games.

anyway, if it’s not Namakubi, then this entire franchise can get bent.

Courier Rice suggested Asha from Monster World IV and I’m so fucking there for that (it’s not that)

I already figured it out, it’s Athena because she has a reflect

every Smash character needs a counter or reflect

oh man, is Faselei! finally getting a wide English release on a system people own?

My working theory is that these rumors is that they’re like clues for British crossword puzzles, in that the actual answer is one or two leaps of logic beyond what any reasonable person would expect.

For instance, with the Terry Bogard rumor, we have to remember that his most iconic phrase is “Bustah Wolf”. This, in turn, is cluing us into the fact that the next character will be the Werewolf from Data East’s classic Werewolf: The Last Warrior.

With the “girl in a mech rumor”, the chain of logic goes like this: mech-girl -> D.Va -> “diva” -> “diver” -> the protagonist of Irem’s Holy Diver.

My logic is foolproof.

The only stuff that gets me hyped for Smash characters are the insane choices. Terry is one. Doomguy or Viewiful Joe would make me go nuts. There’s enough Fire Emblem characters that anime stuff would not excite me. There is no intelligence to my predictions yet you know I’m right. Give me Pious Agustus, Satoru Iwata or Sergeant Cortez.

can’t wait for the rumors to be false and for us to just get edelgard lol

actual boring logic and commentary on the idea of an SNK character: so SNK has been rather prolific as of late w/r/t lending out characters for guest appearances in other fighting games. if you take a look, you’ll notice they give every franchise their own rep:

  • Tekken got Geese
  • DoA got Mai and Kula
  • Million Arthur got Iori
  • Soul Calibur is getting Haohmaru
  • Fighting EX Layer got Terry

so, to some extent, it’s safe to assume that it won’t be a repeat and also it’s probably Nakoruru because Samsho comes out on the Switch in December

mostly it’s a shame that I can’t joke that it’s Shovel Knight because Shovel Knight already has a Smash presence

I only accept this if they’re in a tank at all times

Put Bub and or Bob in smash cowards

no, Squenix already has two reps in Smash

also this is a reminder that Squenix owns Bub and Bob

Maybe They’ll throw us for a loop and the SNK rep will be that guy from League Bowling

Evil Ronald Reagan from Cyberlip for Smash
