As a QA tester on that game, I’d say nah not really.
This thread did get me to buy Disciples I & II off Steam though, they’re about $1 each at the moment (also on GOG for a few pennies more). Lose graphics if task-switch D1, and have to run its separate config and set D2 to D3D to fix a speed problem. Also after a few turns I realized I had to be building structures in the capital or whatever instead of just rampaging around with the starting unit and then I remembered I don’t have the patience for strategy games at the moment. But man those visuals are something! How could they afford to go that ornate, crazy. ^ _^
Install the disciples gl patch
it’s amazing the standards of what could go in this thread ten years ago. truly, we were naive to the nature of ugliness
I tried that but my installed Steam version doesn’t have any of the files that are in the patch, so it doesn’t do anything. Maybe need the GOG version for that one? I dunno.
Oh yeah I have it on gog
GOG versions are like a buck fifty now so I tried them. : ) They install the same files. OH. So what I was missing was what the install directions for the patch don’t say (although I should have noticed it myself) which is that for D1 the dlls you have to overwrite are in the EXE folder (I had it in my head that the patch’s files in the zip matched the folder structure into which you’re meant to copy them, that was an incorrect assumption by me ; ). So installed correctly, the patch does work just fine with the Steam version.
So yeah nice, now I can set resolution and borderless fullscreen, maybe if my brain can handle strategy some day I’ll play these after all. ^ _^
Thanks for getting me to try the patch again. : ) (And I’m sure my GOG refunds will go through, maybe unlike Steam who is now cranky and complaining I’ve requested an unusual amount of refunds lately. ; D)
Yeah gog is very good about refunds. I’m glad you got it working!! Disciples is great.
Wow, looks so much like that game I posted earlier in a post that you liked!!
i included the magic of video though, which makes it better. i didn’t fully appreciate the “welcome to mag racer” voice before now.
holy shit
I both think I have to play this game and also think there’s no way it can possibly be better than this trailer
fuck yeah
Detroit become Pilotredsun?
the developer made Terminus Machina, a Deus Ex TC that tulpa shared impressions of
Neofeud 2 actually just came out last week on Steam and mostly still looks like that.
At least once a day since I’ve seen this I have thought about “I’m the six billion dolla balla”
he has been awfully quiet for a while …
