Disgaea 5 is the pinnacle of overstuffed mechanics, at least that I’ve played. I really enjoyed capturing monsters, converting them to my cause, then sending them into space to have their own adventures and blow up planets, which is one of like five totally optional major mechanics. The story is cute but not much more than that. Plip.
Disgaea 1 had the best characters and is the leanest (lol) of the games, in a good way. It has an extremely unfortunate aesthetic. Like, embarrassingly bad aesthetic.
2 and 4 are okay, I have not played 3.

When I was in high school, my grandpa bought me Disgaea 1 for PS2 and then got upset when he saw what the actual game looked like.
This also happened with Timesplitters 2 for different reasons.

One time my dad bought my brothers and I Bio Freaks for the PSX. Later one he walked in on us while we were playing it and said he doesn’t like us playing games like that.

the only grandparent-video game interaction i recall is when my grandma saw me playing street fighter II and chun-li happened to be in the match, and she concluded that I shouldn’t be playing games where you beat up women

My grandma would come back from the Philippines with dope ass videogames. First it was a pirate NES cart with like 250 different games on it. Second it was Legend of Mystical Ninja. Honestly the best video game giver in the family by far.

I’ve had a horrible experience ordering ps4 controllers (I got a brand new one from amazon that had a completely fucked left thumbstick) but this is almost too good of a deal considering how expensive these fucking things are to not try again lol
