Special note should be the cameltry-like bonus levels could easily be their own game to themselves and I would love to play that game.

I really need to play more sonic fangames. I played Robotnik’s Ring Racers for a bday thing and it was amazing how much thought was put into every aspect.

did I say I played through Quake around the new year? I saw it in the giant pile of free EGS games Tim Epic gave me and went “I will play through Quake”

just sat down and played an episode a night

I feel like I’m posting this less as a “I played Quake” and more as a stake in the ground as proof that I play good things sometimes

…I gotta play something bad again.

i feel like this game isn’t nearly as well known as it should be bc i think this is surely one of the best run + guns out there whether of the top down or sidescrolling variety… i want to call it a sunset riders sequel bc it looks the same, plays the same, almost surely has most of the same staff, the sunset riders attract mode demo plays on a movie theater screen in the first-level… this is just a pure delight.

after YEARS of confusion i finally understand how to use retroarch’s turbofire feature

I played the flooded cavern one last night and it’s fun. I’ve done only Easy and Normal so far.

It had been a while since I last played Combo Pool, and I wanted to see whether I could beat it on Hard in one try. And I did.

You can get PicoMix (and a ton of other games) in this bundle. Which is pretty generous, since it’s a brand new release (albeit mostly composed of existing games).

The Steam version (which is included with the itch version) comes with all the source code as free DLC, by the way.

I love the Pico-8 eco system as a platform of micro-ish games. I could never figure out the spell to make the emulator keep save data between boots on my ambernic but their the perfect games to play on a pocket device.

not the best data east game but maybe the most, despite the obvious like joke game vibes it’s deeply compelling …

the data east game i’ve certainly played the most is karnov’s revenge AKA fighter’s history dynamite which is maybe my fav of the early generation SFII clone-style fighting games which also remains just a delight to play… ultimately i’m the type of fighting game player who would rather play like 4 different 90s 2D fighting games with like a broken top tier that dominates the rest of the cast over like newer games that i think are often a little too into like cast size and concepts of “fairness” “balance” and “competition” that suck the fun out… sorry just my opinion lol. what do i know anyways i just said i dont even really play newer fighting games. i just think games in general are a little more fun when there’s a tinge of recklessness to them which is probably how i would characterize a lot of the data east softography out of what ive been playing… data east 2025 everyone

this was the first data east game i remember playing, at some random arcade spot in the middle of nowhere:

i’ve been playing it recently and this is also one of those games that lets you melt things like butter if you have autofire buttons… i just dont have the constitution to repetitively mash buttons like that anymore lmfao i’ve put in my time

Don’t forget it’s a steam next fest weekend. Gotta lot of stuff downloaded to try, still digging around for buried gems.

i’ve also been trying next fest demos. HAVE TRIED SOME TRASH I DONT WANT TO TALK ABOUT!
and like, about an elf. it looks neat, but the demo is extremely slight.

also, am i nima which turns that whole funny webgame about combining words together into new concepts into a way of trying to find the right things to tell your dangerous mom so you can “win her trust” and go free

overwhelming amount of words pretty quickly
