I just did the “Lara slides down a river and if you don’t thread the needle on dozens of obstructions she gets impaled through the throat and out the back of her head” segment.
You, uh. You kinda wonder if someone was working on some issues, in a bad way, with what they do to her in this.
Resident Evil 4 (PS4): thought i was going to sit down, relax, and at least get through ch. 1-2 with little/no trouble. naturally, i thought wrong.
shooting shit out of the enemy’s hand and/or mid-air is enough of a trick in light-gun games- what were Mikami & Co. thinking trying to work it into a third-person shooter?
Adaptive Difficulty. why? just… why? how am i meant to become competent at the game if the devs keep fiddling with the difficulty every time i start to struggle? vidcons are not TTRPGs, Mikami- you’re never going to have the kind of direct engagement that allows actual DMs to modulate this stuff without being condescending or immersion-breaking
lol y u so bad @ videogames hater
because if i were good at them on top of everything else, the resulting critical mass of excellence would tear the fabric of space/time and ultimately destroy the universe
That’s why the Wii version is best because you can use the wiimote as a light gun sort of
anyway i watched my partner play through okami and i had it in my head that it was some kind of beautiful artistic game but it turns out it’s a pervy, horny as hell game where you get weapons where you piss and shit on people
They gave all these objects huge hitboxes, combined with the laser pointer, to make it work. It’s why the dynamite enemy has a super long windup on lighting the dynamite, combined with a sound effect, so that you can focus on him.
Can think of a bunch of FPS games like the Fallouts that built shooting grenades out of the air into the mechanics, but it’s so hard to do organically they had to give it an achievement to even let people know you can do it.
For some reason I can knock dynamite out of the air in a panic but cant head shot guys walking towards me consistently. I think Im gonna switch to the wii version anyway tho.
Okami is one of the biggest disappointments I’ve experienced in video games. There’s a lot to like in the visual style, music, etc. but the writing goes well beyond normal video game mediocrity.
