Itâs cool that Valve have done this big 25th anniversary thing for Half-Life considering that for the 20th anniversary they basically said fuck Half-Life and fuck you. They seem less embarrased by the series since Alyx came out, and maybe hired some decent PR people in the past 5 years?

Has anyone else had trouble with running Opposing Force or Blue Shift since this update?
I havenât tried but for some reason all the HECU soldiers are shown using this robo character model and also when anything dies from an explosion they donât have an animation for it, instead they just freeze in some arbitrary pose or use the wrong animation. I had both of these issues when I tried the ray-tracing mod and I thought that maybe both of them were related to that but I completely reinstalled everything and nuked my install location and itâs still happening.
Okay I just realized that both of these issues are just how the original german release of the game was released because of censorship laws. I canât find anyone else whoâs had this issue, however. Iâve seen people say that it can happen if your language is set to German, but my language is set to English and my profile doesnât even have a location set. Is there any other setting in steam that could be causing this?

I saw a guy on the steam forums with this problem, I have no idea what they broke in the update, like look at your hl1 folder and make sure itâs valve instead of valve_german I guessâŚyou did all the stuff I would have done to try and fix it already lol. Make sure the content lock option in half life is off unless they got rid of that on accident too
valve doesnât give a shit about gearboxâs mostly terrible expansions (thereâs a reason nobodyâs actually ever finished remakes of them lol) so they accidentally broke most goldsrc games and mods with this update.

yeah I finally found a thread about it on the steam forums and multiple people said they had to open a support ticket on steam which seems insane to me. I just did it though so hopefully it works.

also now noticing thereâs no blood or alien gibs or blood decals or even bullet holes. man, germans had it rough! thatâs such a huge part of the experience imo.
those decals were everything in 1998⌠few will understand 
if anyone wants to give some children severe trust issues in hldm grab some grenades, cook it, let yourself die in the middle of a group of people and when one of them picks it up the weapon autoswitch will make them explode
