i sort of think spoiler tags could be used a bit more liberally re: second half!
I just picked up the twinzards!!! And Iâm not going to get to play again until (at least) the 10th! Thisgame is gonna take me a year
second half more like second third
oof, with as few plot spoilers as possible, can anyone tell me if everything is just going to be brown and purple from now on (after yggdrasil)? not getting to enjoy the sunny bright green pastoral landscapes is going to take a lot of the fun out of this game, especially now that winter is on its way. i have enough eternal night IRL, donât need it from The Game World.
Was just wondering the same thing. For anyone afraid of that spoiler blur, u_u is asking about the beginning of season 2.
Press forward and restore the light!
no
Gosh, that squid was quite the difficulty spike, for me at least
did you get the cannon
Yes
I like that they made the rude tourist NPCs in the Asian town all Aussies, just like in real life
I muted the voices pretty early on, but decided to turn them on again recently to hear what everyone sounds like. It was right before one of the mermaid/marriage cut-scenes and, good lord, I promptly turned them off again. All the voices just seem so totally mismatched with their characters, as if the the actors are literally reading their lines for the first time and theyâve been given zero information about context etc. Is anyone playing with voices on?
I am! I actually like it, even though I find most video game voice acting unbearable
Nah, the voices are cute. I think you did it to yourself by turning them off. Itâs like when youâve only heard someone on a podcast for years: when you finally learn what they look like, thereâs no way they can stack up to what youâd pictured in your head.
i moaned about the voice work earlier itt based on the trailers and promos but i was being silly and didnât turn them off in the end
hendrikâs delivery can be really funny
I think the mermaid part in particular is a bit weirder than usual voice acting-wise, especially the lonalulu villagers with that odd accent and slow, monotonous talking style. Not really sure what they were going for there.
I did like that they made the mermaid sound like a British preschool teacher reciting nursery rhymes for story time
Yeah it was probably just a particularly unfortunate time to unmute voices. But like @u_u I tend to find voice acting in games grating at the best of times.
Just reached phnom nohn â Iâve been coasting along pretty happily until now, but suddenly feel Iâve lost momentum. Once the orbs are introduced the pacing takes a bit of a hit imo; too many towns in quick succession, not enough questinâ.
I love how towns are semi true to life, accounting for habitats and living spaces especially scale for the kingdom-cities. Unfortunately with visible and very avoidable encounters in fields and dungeons, the balance is thrown off between âquest across this stretch, conserve resources and labor with some dangerâ vs âbreathe out and see every npc, shop, progress plotâ. You can trot along an area choosing to fight a handful of monsters in a fraction of the time youâll spend exploring towns, even if thereâs very clear markers who to talk to.
The voice acting sounds above average for the genre, surprisingly good in parts but hyper exaggerated goofy in others. Some of this comes with body language and animation for characters not being built with expressive voices in mind throughout.
I finished this, why does every videogame have to end with a purple-ish place that crumbles once the boss dies
Be warned that the final boss w/ draconian settings is an absolute ordeal.
I have stronger enemies, no exp from weak enemies and shypox. I couldnât even yellowtext the first form on my first few tries. Then I went back at level 59, with the best equipment I could forge, all at +3, plus 9 elixirs from the casino on everybody. The battle ate half my elixirs and lasted 90 minutes (!!!)
load your save again, you have another 20-30 hours left
