whenever I’m not playing gemstone I’m weighing the pros and cons of going back to it. it’s a forever game in the way a thoguht is intrusive. sometimes I wish I could forget it, but it’s too powerful

I don’t have one yet, but maybe one day when I get older and finally declare Backlog Bankruptcy, I’ll settle on one game to carry me through my twilight years.

I have… four forever games.

No order. Off the top of my head:

Crazy Taxi
Demon’s Souls
Quake
Dark Souls 1 and 2
Super Mario Bros.
Sega Rally
Silent Hill
SF3 Third Strike
Deus Ex

I’ll continually come back to these.

Pretty much every game I enjoy I plan to incorporate it into the list of stuff I’ll eventually revisit once enough time has passed and it feels somewhat fresh again. Love going back to games like this and feeling like my perspective is slightly changed and I’m looking at these games with new clarity. Right now I’m doing it with Mega Man 9 and Advance Wars

Its funny this thread just popped up because just last night I was hunting around for my PS2 slim to pop in Gradius V and R-Type Final, both games I pick up every year or so for a few runs, despite being terrible at shmups and not having a lot of experience with the genre outside of those two.

Also I’ll usually get a hankering for a PS1 era final fantasy game once every few years and play through whichever one I haven’t played the longest… Speaking of which I should probably download a copy of FF8.

Got a new run going in rpcs3 of Demon’s Souls with a character called costco_hotdog.

I think my memory just sucks because a lot of stuff still feels new to me when I play these games.

Lucky for me, that means I get to experience them like new all over again!

  • Tokyo Extreme Racer Drift 2 - It will probably take me forever just to beat it. its too hard, too long and kind of busted. Its my pet racing game; I play it because someone must.
  • Sonic 3+K - sometimes just blue spheres.
  • Crusader of Centy - It has so many unique chapters.
  • Magical Drop 3
  • Chronotrigger
  • Duck Hunt

I was gonna say SOTN but I think Ive finally had enough of it.
If I had a good pc setup Id prolly play XIII a lot.

The Shutokou Battle/TXR games kind of meld together for me. From being wowed by the Dreamcast version to playing the ps2 versions via emulation to the modern day version on Steam.

I have not yet tried Drift 2, but I think I’ll rig up my racing setup to play it on pcsx2 like you did.

Definitely a forever series!

TXRD2 really needs some things not present on release like an e-brake handle. You unlock so many options just adding an e-brake. Blipping it is also basically the only way to clutch kick as there is no clutch. Save states really benefit you when practicing or tuning. The game needed more time in the oven but I still love it.
