NO, NOT A SAD COVER OF EAGLE-EYED CHERRY’S “SAVE TONIGHT”
The Dynasty Warriors Origins prequel(?) is probably the most transparently ‘silly fun gameplay’ thing shown so far. High fidelity Musou wasn’t on my bingo card.
We end on the playable Playstation ad. I’m not sure how much they can reasonably charge for Astrobot given its gimmick is so tied to just anthropomorphising Playstation hardware. Feels weird.
They’re playing vocaloid.
Just establishing the classic Silent Hill vibe that Bloober team will surely bullseye
Inserting a combat loop and taking away fixed cameras really does make me wonder if people would riot in the streets if a single fixed camera remained.
Astrobot is such a nothing. It’s literally a video where “when you put on the uniform, you’re here, part of the Playstation family.”
And it is all that remains of Japan Studios.
I thought both Astrobots were super fun platformers that played a lot with physicality and perspective. Didn’t care about the Playstation references at all. Just thought it was fun as games.
It’s biggest problem is that it’s about rescuing hidden robots similar to catching hidden apes in Ape Escape, but all the robots looked like the same generic, white robots instead of having at least one accessory to make them unique like Ape Escape had. Give these robots a hat or a scarf or a shoe or some panths. Give them some character!
Missed the Guerilla Collective, but it turns out I can conveniently watch Summer Game Fest from Japan while jetlagged so… I’m a huge hypocrite I guess. Luckily SGeofF is the only event targeting global view saturation so I might be free of my compulsion for the rest of June.
i complained about some of the games i saw on the Guerilla Collective stream, but it is still one of the lesser annoying of the Summer Geoff Fest streams from what i recall. though most of them honestly blend together other than Geoff and The Wholesome Direct (not for good reasons). it was funny to hear the host of Guerilla Collective constantly reading a bunch of corporate sponsorship stuff and trying to sound cool at the same time. what a world, this world of videogames.
was kind of hard to keep track of stuff, and some of the trailers were things that have already been announced. i saw a couple things i was interested in though.
anyway eagerly awaiting my showdown with Geoff in an hour
going through my usual cycle of psyching myself up for geoff’s birthday and then remembering the party is gonna be two hours long
It’s Time.
